Sophie Winkleman has highlighted the upsetting reality of homelessness and is urging people to quickly help those who are living on the streets.
Forty-five-year-old actress Sophie Winkleman, married to Lord Frederick Windsor, spent the day with her nine-year-old daughter, Isabella, selling copies of The Big Issue at Somerset House in London.
Sophie explained that she deeply cares about the cause because The Big Issue provides not only jobs, but also a supportive community for people experiencing homelessness.
Speaking to HELLO, she said: ‘How the hell is it OK to walk past someone sleeping in the street?
It breaks my heart to think of anyone going through that kind of hardship and disrespect. That’s why I’m so dedicated to The Big Issue – it’s more than just a magazine; it’s a real family and a supportive community for people facing incredibly tough situations. They truly look out for each other.
Since 2020, the actor best known for Peep Show has been working with The Big Issue. He initially contacted the organization’s co-founder, Lord John Bird, to praise an article Bird had written, and this led to him becoming an ambassador.

As homelessness increases, Sophie highlighted how important the holiday season is for supporting street vendors.
She explained that buying The Big Issue is especially meaningful at Christmas, as the people selling it have often overcome difficult circumstances and deserve our support and appreciation.
She pointed out that if someone has enough money for a daily coffee, they can easily afford to buy the magazine.
It comes after Sophie said life as a working royal is ‘total hell’ and a ‘form of torture’.
The actress is married to Lord Frederick, who is a second cousin of King Charles. She’s also friends with prominent members of the royal family, like the Prince and Princess of Wales.
In a recent interview, the Peep Show star said she ‘felt for’ her family because ‘life is brutal’.
She told the Times that the more she learns about the Royal Family, the more she realizes how difficult their lives are, and that unwanted fame feels like a kind of torment.
Sophie, the star of the TV show Wild Cherry, explained that members of the Royal Family are born into the public eye and constantly face intense scrutiny.

‘None of them went on Pop Idol or something to be famous.
Growing up constantly in the public eye is incredibly difficult. It means never really knowing who you can trust, always worrying about betrayal, and constantly being subjected to false stories and rumors – it’s a truly harsh experience.
I really sympathize with everyone involved. Living under that level of public attention and pressure can’t be good for anyone’s well-being, but they’re stuck with it, she explained.
Sophie and Frederick, the son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, first connected on New Year’s Eve while out in Soho. They later married in a grand ceremony held at Hampton Court Palace.
Shortly before their 15th wedding anniversary last year, Sophie revealed to Tatler that she felt like she didn’t recognize many people at her own wedding.
‘I had my best pals there but basically it was full of faces I’d never seen before.
I’ll never forget how my mother-in-law, Princess Michael of Kent, completely took the reins and managed everything – even what I wore! She handled it all so wonderfully, it was amazing.
Sophie was so focused on avoiding the stereotype of a demanding bride that she didn’t bother to speak up about her hair on her wedding day, even though it ended up looking terrible.
She recounted to the magazine that as she walked down the aisle, her first words to Freddie were an apology for his hair. He playfully responded, asking what she had done to it.
The wedding reception took place at Ormeley Lodge, a beautiful historic home near Richmond Park, and was hosted by Lady Annabel Goldsmith, Lord Frederick’s godmother.
The couple share two children, daughters Maud, 12, and Isabella, nine.
