As a lifestyle expert with decades of personal and professional experience under my belt, I must say that Sophie Turner‘s stance on her work-life balance is both relatable and commendable. In today’s fast-paced world, it is essential for parents, particularly mothers, to carve out time for themselves and their passions while still being present for their children.

Sophie Turner clarified her absence from her children due to work commitments, following unkind criticism she received after her separation from Joe Jonas, which some people referred to as ‘mum-shaming.’

28-year-old actress from Game of Thrones recently completed her divorce with singer Joe (aged 35) in September, which marks more than a year since he initiated the separation process. Their marriage took place in 2019.

The divorce ignited a debate about gender roles when it was alleged that Sophie was socializing while Joe took care of their two daughters, Willa, aged 4, and Delphine, aged 2. Critics condemned these allegations as unfairly judging a mother (mum-shaming).

As I chatted with Harper’s Bazaar yesterday, discussing my jet-setting lifestyle due to work commitments – from the sets of various productions, including the successful series Joan – I shared my ardent wish that my daughters will recognize me as a dedicated mom who tirelessly works and makes sacrifices for their sake.

She expressed that she wants others to observe her living an active social life, finding joy in her job, flourishing in her profession, and maintaining healthy relationships.

‘I want them to see a hard-working mum. I’ll come back and say, “This is why Mummy was away – it’s because she’s doing this for you, so Father Christmas can come with a big bundle of presents”.’

Following reports of their split, TMZ stated that Sophie had a penchant for going out, which apparently led to conflicts as Joe, who is known to prefer staying in and taking care of their children, was more of a homebody.

Following the announcement about their contrasting preferences, sources revealed that Sophie enjoys going out and partying while her partner prefers to stay home. These differing habits have since been confirmed by a series of videos depicting Sophie in social settings.

Angry spectators criticized that the appreciation for Joe’s parenting was seen as routine and predictable, suggesting that men only need to do the absolute minimum to earn praise, whereas Sophie would receive no credit if she were the only caregiver in such a scenario.

The process of finalizing the divorce between the former couple was held up due to significant disagreements they had over child custody arrangements.

Prior to their marital separation, Sophie, a native of Northampton, along with her then-husband Joe (aged 35), resided in America together with their two daughters. However, Sophie yearned deeply for a return to the United Kingdom.

Expressing her feelings of homesickness, the actress from “Joan” admitted, “Upon reaching each new location, my immediate action would be to locate a British store and purchase a month’s supply of chocolate…

Sophie’s primary reason for returning home was driven by her concern about gun violence and the need for law reforms in the United States.

She continued: ‘The gun violence, Roe v Wade being overturned… Everything just kind of piled on.’

In June 2022, the highest U.S. court reversed a 1973 decision (Roe v Wade) that provided women with the legal right to have an abortion until the unborn child could survive outside the womb, roughly at 24 weeks.

After returning to the UK, Sophie has thrived in both her professional and personal spheres. Professionally, she’s made strides with the drama group Joan, and in her private life, she’s formed a relationship with aristocrat Peregrine Pearson.

She recently went Instagram official with her boyfriend, aristocrat Peregrine Pearson, delighting fans.

On Sunday, she posted a series of photos capturing moments of the couple affectionately embraced under a canopy, snuggled together in a canal boat, striking poses aboard a hot air balloon, and enjoying a winter sport like skiing.

About her coming back, she expressed: “I’m overjoyed to be here again. It was like my life had hit the pause button until I got back to England.

In my heart, I can’t help but feel that I’ve misplaced a crucial piece of myself whenever I’m not in London, surrounded by my cherished friends and kin. It feels like an eternity since I left – six years to be precise – and during this time, my friends found love, got engaged, and I even welcomed a new life into the world.

‘Recently, I had dinner with someone, and they mentioned, “I’ve never had the chance to feel your stomach.” Our interactions haven’t included such intimate moments.’
