Sophie Monk shares massive career news as she heads to the USA after landing major American television gig

Actress Sophie Monk, known for her role in The Bachelorette Australia, has secured an exciting opportunity on NBC’s streaming platform, Peacock, in the United States.

Sophie, 45, will be at the helm of the Love Island USA Aftersun season 7, from this week.

In the new spin-off of the racy dating series, Sophie will engage in conversations with former Islanders who were sent home, as well as previous contestants, during the course of the upcoming season, all within a talk show format.

The show will also tease storyline developments on the current season.

Aftersun, which dropped on June 7, is set to run on Saturdays only after Love Island USA.

Sophie takes over from the former host of Aftersun, Maura Higgins, who has previously appeared as a contestant on both Love Island USA and Love Island UK, according to Deadline’s report published on Friday.

The US series is set in Fiji and features a cast of romantic hopefuls hosted in a gorgeous villa.

On their search for romance, the Islanders encounter various hurdles in dating and a fair share of exciting drama, as new participants enter the scene.

Sophie, the host of the Australian version of Love Island since 2018, is preparing for her role in season 7, scheduled to air on Nine towards the end of 2025.

Previously, the performer-host confessed that her journey in showbiz wasn’t always smooth; at one point, she considered leaving the entertainment industry altogether.

During a chat with Daily Mail Australia, Sophie openly shared that her initial years in the entertainment industry were challenging for her.

Sophie mentioned, “When I was younger, I felt like I was striving to fit into everybody’s expectations of what I should be in my career.

Sophie initially shot to fame as part of pop band Bardot from 2000 to 2002.

2004 saw her taking on the role of Marilyn Monroe in the movie titled “The Mystery of Natalie Wood,” which was aired by the Nine Network.

Despite the fact that her fame was growing steadily, Sophie admitted that she struggled with the ruthless entertainment business and even considered leaving it entirely.

In the past, things were challenging for her, and at times, she felt a tad misconstrued, she acknowledged. This situation also caused her to hesitate slightly when considering her professional path.

But instead of giving up, Sophie decided to change her outlook.

As for me, I put it this way: “I suggested they could choose between leaving the field or enjoying themselves. Guess what? They decided to embrace it. frankly, many aspire to be here. I happened to stumble into it myself.

The choice to embrace the fickle industry seemingly paid off for Sophie.

In the year 2005, she moved to Los Angeles and subsequently achieved greater professional success, securing minor parts in Hollywood movies titled “Click”, “Murder World”, and “Spring Break ’83”.

After finding love with Stu Laundy on The Bachelorette in 2017, her professional success experienced a resurgence in Australia; however, the relationship between them ended before that time.
