Okay, so you won’t BELIEVE this, but Sophie Habboo – honestly, she’s amazing – she actually ate her placenta after having her little boy! I was reading all about it, and she said she did it, but she’s not even sure if it worked, which is so relatable, honestly. She was saying her hair is falling out like crazy – ‘by the second,’ she said! – and she’s wondering if it’s supposed to help with that. I’m just obsessed with everything she does, and this is… a choice, let’s say, but she’s still a queen!
Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing welcomed their son, Ziggy, in December 2025. Ziggy is now two months old, and the couple are first-time parents.
During an Instagram question-and-answer session with fans on Sunday, she shared that she had tried placentophagy – eating her placenta – a practice followed by many celebrities.
Many people think eating organ meats – whether as capsules, cooked, or in smoothies – can boost iron, balance hormones, reduce symptoms of postpartum depression, and even help with hair loss.
There’s no scientific proof backing up these claims, and many doctors are concerned the practice is either ineffective or potentially harmful.
Sophie confessed she wasn’t sure if taking hers had helped at all, explaining that her hair was still falling out a lot.
When a fan asked about essential items for after giving birth, the celebrity responded with a photo of a handful of hair she had lost, highlighting postpartum hair loss.
She wrote that she’s also curious about the answer, adding that her hair is falling out rapidly and she wonders if it’s related to eating her placenta, though she isn’t sure if it had any effect.
Sophie recently told her friend Melissa Tattam on their podcast, Wednesdays, that she chose to have her placenta turned into capsules after giving birth.
Several celebrities, including Millie Mackintosh, Kim Kardashian, and Vick Hope, have publicly discussed eating the placenta – an organ that develops during pregnancy and provides nourishment to the baby in the womb.
This followed Sophie’s comments about the expectations new mothers face to quickly recover after childbirth. She and Jamie had recently attended the BRIT Awards when she shared these thoughts.
Sharing her experience after becoming a mother, she told the Daily Mail that her baby is now smiling and laughing. She loves when he looks at her and smiles, and she often tells him, ‘You make my world go round!’ – which she says is the most wonderful feeling.
Jamie shared their joy, saying, ‘Having a baby is the most wonderful thing – I love them more than anything in the world!’
Sophie shared that she felt pressure to quickly get back to feeling and looking her best, but she decided to focus on having fun at the event. She playfully pointed out that someone was wearing sunglasses, suggesting a relaxed atmosphere.
She playfully described her husband Jamie’s recent style change, saying he’s fully embraced a ‘dad era.’ Jamie jokingly agreed, calling it his midlife crisis and declaring he plans to continue dressing this way indefinitely.
This month, Sophie celebrated her first Mother’s Day with adorable photos of her baby, whom she described as a challenging but incredibly joyful addition to her life.
She shared a personal moment from her life as a new mother, posting a picture of her baby’s feet at a restaurant. She wrote a heartfelt message describing the ups and downs of motherhood.
She shared that after 15 weeks of motherhood, it’s been an incredible journey. She was surprised by the overwhelming range of emotions she’s experienced.
‘I totally get now what people mean when they say they wish they could freeze time.
One moment I’m longing for a full night’s sleep, and the next I’m getting emotional thinking about you growing up and not needing me to cuddle or fall asleep with you anymore.
Being a parent is an incredible emotional journey, and it’s changed me in ways I never imagined – I’m truly thankful for that. This little one is the most challenging, fulfilling, and wonderful thing that’s ever happened to me.
Being your mom has been, and always will be, the most wonderful and fulfilling thing in my life, and I’m incredibly proud of you. You’ve completed my life in a way I never thought possible.
To all the wonderful mothers who have supported me during these first few weeks, thank you – I love you all. And to mothers everywhere, you are all incredibly strong and inspiring.
Jamie shared a heartwarming video on social media highlighting special moments from their relationship – from when they first became friends, to their adventures traveling the world, getting married, and welcoming their first child.
Sophie and Jamie regularly share sweet photos of their baby son, and these posts also offer a sneak peek at their upcoming Disney+ documentary, ‘Raising Chelsea,’ which follows their journey as parents.
Last year, it was announced that the couple will share their path to parenthood in a new docuseries. The show will cover Sophie’s pregnancy and how they’re juggling their careers with preparing to welcome a baby.
The couple documented Ziggy’s birth for their show, and the first trailer briefly showed Sophie experiencing difficult complications during labor, ultimately requiring an emergency C-section.
The trailer opens with Jamie looking back at how they met: ‘It all started on the reality show Made in Chelsea, and it’s been a whirlwind ever since – with TV appearances, brand deals, podcasts, and now, a baby on the way!’
Jamie and Sophie were visibly thrilled as they headed to the exclusive maternity ward, The Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital.
Sophie said: ‘We think it’s happening,’ as Jamie added: ‘Let’s go guys!’
When doctors discovered the baby’s arm was stuck in the birth canal, the couple learned Sophie needed to quickly adjust her delivery plan.
Holding hands, Jamie comforted his wife during labor. They both cried with happiness when their baby, Ziggy, was born.
The show includes Jamie and Sophie’s families, Sophie’s sister Georgia (who’s a social media influencer), and their friends – including Oliver Proudlock, who used to be on Made In Chelsea with Jamie.
Last year, the couple discussed their new series, explaining that for almost ten years, they’ve shared the ups and downs of their lives – both personal and work-related – with fans through television, radio, social media, and their podcasts.
We’re thrilled to team up with Disney+ and Dorothy St Pictures to share our next project with audiences worldwide. It’s a real privilege to work with such talented groups.
We’re so excited to start a family and share this new chapter with you! Having a baby is changing our lives in wonderful ways, and we can’t wait for you to be a part of it.
