Sophia Richards Responds to Mounjaro Backlash
In a spirited response, Sophia Umansky has fiercely countered her critics following her openness about using the weight loss drug, Mounjaro.
25-year-old celebrity child, daughter of Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky, has confessed to her use of the substance, revealing she also experienced hair loss due to its effects.
However, the star has now responded to those criticizing her chosen approach to weight loss.
In conversation with others, she asserted that she did not suffer from body dysmorphia and expressed satisfaction with her appearance, be it before or after losing weight.
She explained during the The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season two premiere on Friday that many people have suggested she has body dysmorphia and similar issues, but she responds by saying, “In reality, I don’t agree. I believe I’ve always been attractive, and I still think so now.” She added, “It’s okay to strive for a bit more self-assurance and appeal.
In a TikTok video shared on Monday, the celebrity spoke out to both critics and supporters, refuting claims that she wasn’t heavy enough to use the medication, while also disclosing that she has shed more than 30 pounds.
It seems that my statement about using Mounjaro sparked the breakdown of the internet, as I shared a video discussing my hair loss issues some time ago. However, I wasn’t aware that being truthful would generate such negative responses.
With a touch of sarcasm, she playfully claimed she hadn’t realized she had single-handedly interrupted the worldwide distribution of the medication.
It turns out that my solo action disrupted the worldwide supply chain. I’m truly sorry for any inconvenience caused. However, joining Mounjarno was a personal decision I made for my well-being and health improvement. I’ve managed to shed more than 30 pounds, and as a result, I feel better in my body with improved stomach issues and increased confidence. What truly matters is that I prioritized my wellness, even if it didn’t align with someone else’s perception of ideal weight.
‘Mounjaro has received FDA approval for treating type 2 diabetes, but it’s also being used legitimately and safely by doctors like mine for weight management and metabolic issues. While I won’t share all the details of my medical history with you, understand that this treatment decision was made carefully by me and my doctor based on sound reasons.’
Though she continues to lose a significant amount of hair, she maintains that the experience on Mounjaro has been worthwhile because it has boosted her self-confidence.
She been managing the hair loss ‘with vitamins and supplements and a new routine.’

She asserted that there’s no reason to feel embarrassed about actions that improve one’s well-being, be it through therapy or cosmetic procedures like Botox.
She shared, “When I began discussing this openly, quite a few individuals I’m acquainted with confided in me that they’ve been taking the same or similar medication for a considerable period, which I wasn’t aware of before.
Sophia admitted earlier this month she had been taking Mounjaro.
Mounjaro, similar to Ozempic, initially designed for managing diabetes, has gained popularity among well-known personalities such as Meghan Trainor and Whoopi Goldberg, as it was originally developed.
The television personality has been using this medication for approximately four months, yet she started noticing hair loss issues about three months into usage.
Even though the medication doesn’t specifically mention hair loss as a side effect, it might be a temporary issue due to hormonal fluctuations or nutritional deficiencies that often occur alongside quick weight loss.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, let me share with you an intriguing glimpse into my daily haircare routine. Here’s what I remove from my tresses before stepping into the shower, as well as what I collect during my wash day.
The ‘nepo baby’ influencer posited: ‘I believe the primary cause isn’t the medication itself, but rather the quick weight loss due to the medication, coupled with an insufficient intake of vitamins, proteins, and other essential nutrients.’
Apart from sharing her experiences with her followers, Sophia additionally provided insights into certain strategies she’s adopting to prevent hair loss, including the regular use of specially formulated shampoos and conditioners designed for thickening hair.
She purchased a jar of OMI hair growth peptides and now consumes about four tablespoons of collagen daily as part of her morning routine, along with supplements from Grün that promote digestive health.

Audience members swiftly ventured into the comment area, expressing sentiments such as: “What are you taking Mounjaro for? You’re already so slim!” and “What makes you take this medication?
Reframing this statement in a more personal and conversational tone, I would say: “I find this surprising! It seems like Sophia hasn’t been overweight to start with,” said another TikTok user, encouragingly nudging me: “Kyle, make sure you keep an eye on your daughter.
A person cautioned Sophia, saying, “Sophia, what you’re doing is essentially encouraging anorexia. It’s not healthy for your body. You are already enough and beautiful just as you are.
Moreover, Sophia found supporters who commended her for openly disclosing her Mounjaro usage and hair issues.
