Sony’s Until Dawn movie adaptation set for April 2025 release
As a horror enthusiast with a soft spot for adaptations that do justice to their source material, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming live-action feature of “Until Dawn” in 2025! The team behind this project is nothing short of stellar, with David F. Sandberg at the helm – a director whose horror credentials are as chilling as they come after hits like “Lights Out,” “Annabelle: Creation,” and the “Shazam!” films.
An exciting horror movie titled “Until Dawn” that we can’t wait to watch next year is now confirmed for a spring 2025 release. This live-action feature adaptation of the popular 2015 video game shares the same name, and Sony’s Screen Gems has officially announced its theatrical release date as April 25, 2025. So, don’t forget to mark your calendars for this chilling experience!
David F. Sandberg, renowned for his work on movies like “Lights Out”, “Annabelle: Creation”, and both “Shazam!” films, was the director of the movie “Until Dawn”. The screenplay for this film was penned by Gary Dauberman, with Blair Butler having written an earlier draft.
Previously, Dauberman collaborated with Sandberg on the movie “Annabelle: Creation.” He penned the script for that film. Furthermore, he authored the scripts for the horror films “Annabelle,” “The Nun,” and “Annabelle Comes Home.” In addition to this, he co-wrote the screenplay for “It” and was solely responsible for the script of “It Chapter Two.
The team of Dauberman, Sandberg, Mia Maniscalco, Lotta Losten, Roy Lee, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan are responsible for making the movie. Charles Miller is overseeing the project as executive producer. Furthermore, Screen Gems, PlayStation Productions, Vertigo Entertainment, Coin Operated, and Mangata are the production companies financing this film. Filming began in Budapest in August 2024 and concluded in early October.
Mentioned previously, “Until Dawn” is derived from an interactive drama horror video game sharing the same name. This game was developed by Supermassive Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The story unfolds at a secluded snowy mountain ski lodge on fictional Blackwood Mountain, which serves as the setting one year after the enigmatic vanishing of two friends. A group of young adults opt to spend the weekend there.
Yet, their situation takes a drastic turn when an enigmatic and lethal entity begins trailing them soon after their arrival. Now, they are compelled to exert every effort to endure the night.
As a dedicated gamer, I can’t wait to dive into “Until Dawn,” an R-rated ode to the chilling world of horror. This thrilling film features Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Odessa A’zion, Maia Mitchell, and Belmont Cameli in leading roles. Interestingly, Peter Stormare steps back into his role as Dr. Alan J. Hill, a character he played in the original video game. I can hardly contain my excitement for this spine-tingling adventure!
