Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Movie Teaser Is an Exciting Amy Rose Nod

A teaser poster for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has been released.

As a big movie fan, I’ve been following the Sonic the Hedgehog films since the first one came out in 2020. It’s based on the classic video games, and we’ve already gotten two sequels – Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in 2022 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 just this year in 2024. They even did a Knuckles series on TV in 2024! The director, Jeff Fowler, has been at the helm for all three movies, and Ben Schwartz is fantastic as the voice of Sonic.

What is the Sonic the Hedgehog 4 update?

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is officially in development, as announced by Fowler on Twitter. He shared a teaser poster showing him holding a clapperboard and Amy Rose’s hammer.

Last month, Kristen Bell, known for her roles in The Good Place and Nobody Wants This, was confirmed to be the voice of Amy Rose in the next Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Amy Rose made a quick appearance at the end of 2024’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3, rescuing Sonic from attacking Metal Sonic robots. She originally debuted in the Sonic video game series with Sonic CD.

Previous Sonic movies have featured a talented voice cast, including Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Miles “Tails” Power, and Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna. The live-action films have starred Jim Carrey as Dr. Ivo Robotnik, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski, and Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone.

Details about the plot of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 are currently being kept secret. There’s been speculation that the story might follow a similar path to the one in Sonic the Hedgehog CD, but we’ll have to wait for Paramount to share more official information to know for sure.

The next Sonic the Hedgehog movie is scheduled to release on March 19, 2027. You can currently watch the first three Sonic films on Paramount+.
