Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s first trailer introduces Keanu Reeves as Shadow
As a seasoned gamer with memories of spinning through Green Hill Zone on my Sega Genesis, I must say that the trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has me feeling all sorts of nostalgic excitement! The addition of Shadow to the mix and Keanu Reeves lending his voice to the character is a game-changer (pun intended). It’s fascinating to see how the storyline is evolving, with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles teaming up with Dr. Robotnik to take down Shadow.
The long-awaited initial trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is now here, as it gears up to race into theaters this coming December.
In the third installment, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles find themselves battling against Shadow the Hedgehog, who was hinted at in the credits of “Sonic the Hedgehog 2”. To overcome this challenge, they’ve decided to join forces with none other than Dr. Robotnik.
Keanu Reeves is set to lend his voice to the iconic character Shadow, as the latest trailer showcases his unique portrayal of the beloved figure.
The trailer for “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” was displayed worldwide in cities like London, Sydney, New York City, Tokyo, and Seattle. These showings highlighted pictures of Sonic, Dr. Robotnik, and Shadow from the movie.
The game titled “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” continues the storyline after the television series “Knuckles“, which premiered recently on the streaming platform Paramount+.
In the upcoming third film, Idris Elba returns to portray Knuckles, with Ben Schwartz voicing Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey taking on the character of Tails, and contrary to speculation about his retirement after Sonic 2, Jim Carrey is set to reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik.
In the upcoming series, we have James Marsden and Tika Sumpter reprising their roles as Tom and Maddie Wachowski, alongside Tom Butler portraying the leader of GUN, Commander Walters, and Lee Majdoub joining as Dr. Robotnik’s loyal assistant, Agent Stone.
Joining the cast of “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” are actress Krysten Ritter, renowned from “Ted Lasso,” as well as Cristo Fernández and Alyla Browne.
Although no official confirmation has been made about the character they will portray, it seems plausible that Browne, who recently starred as the younger Furiosa in the Mad Max prequel, might be taking on the role of Dr Robotnik’s cousin Maria.
Fans familiar with Sonic lore are aware that Maria figures prominently in Shadow’s heartbreaking backstory from the video games. The trailer hints that the film may stick to this narrative.
The movie “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is set to hit US theaters on December 20, while it’s scheduled for release in UK theaters a day later, on December 21.
