Sonic Rumble Review: Familiar Fall Guys energy boosted by Sonic’s charm

SEGA has released its first multiplayer party game, Sonic Rumble, a fun and casual title for everyone. This review will cover my experiences with the game, including its various modes, levels, characters, and abilities, and give you an honest assessment.

I tested Sonic Rumble on a Samsung Galaxy A33 5G (Android) for 14 hours. This gave me plenty of time to experience the game completely and form a detailed opinion.

The gameplay feels entertaining, even if the core is not entirely new

Let’s start by looking at how Sonic Rumble plays. The game begins with a helpful tutorial that explains the controls and mechanics. After that, you’ll play three rounds of Survival mode to get a feel for how the game works.

This game feels a lot like the popular title Fall Guys, but it captures the energy of Sonic the Hedgehog with quicker, more action-packed gameplay and recognizable abilities. I personally found it more enjoyable than other recent party battle royale games like Squid Game: Unleashed or Ninja Party.

Sonic’s signature charm shines through the visuals, supported by solid audio

The game’s visuals and sound are excellent – it really captures the classic Sonic look and feel, and it’s instantly enjoyable to play. I particularly liked the character designs and the detail put into each level.

The sound design really enhances the game’s atmosphere, bringing back the nostalgic feel of classic arcade games. It’s engaging without being distracting, helping you stay focused on the action.

The UI supports the gameplay well, and the controls feel responsive throughout

Sonic Rumble has a really user-friendly interface that makes the game more enjoyable. It’s easy to learn and use, and new features are introduced at a good pace as you play, so you’re never overwhelmed. This design makes it simple to understand and move around the game.

The game’s icons and fonts are easy to read and well-organized, so they shouldn’t cause any problems. The controls are also well-done – everything felt smooth, comfortable, and responsive during my playtime. I did struggle a bit, but that was definitely my fault, not the game’s!

The gameplay has great replayability, but the unskippable ADs ruin the mood.

As a fan, I can definitely say this game keeps you coming back for more! There are so many different ways to play, I don’t think I’ll be getting tired of it anytime soon. Plus, being able to set up or join custom matches with friends just makes the whole experience even better – it’s a great way to hang out and have some fun.

My main issue with the game is the ads. It feels strange for a game based on such a popular franchise to include them. It’s frustrating to finish a competitive stage and immediately be shown an ad, especially since you can’t avoid them.

Plenty of in-app purchases are offered, but most rewards feel easy to earn for free

Sonic Rumble lets you buy things within the app using Rings you earn. You can get items, characters, and cool looks for them in the Starter Shop. There are also special limited-time deals, different skins and buddies, a daily claw machine game, and bundled packages. Plus, you can subscribe to Rumble Plus for daily rewards and extra perks.

The game also lets you buy premium items like Red Star Rings and Omni Fragments. But I didn’t feel pushed to spend money, which is good. You can earn plenty of characters and skins just by playing, and even get a free version of the Red Star Rings, so it doesn’t feel like spending is necessary.

Final Verdict

Sonic Rumble is a really fun party game based on the popular Sonic the Hedgehog universe, and most players will enjoy it. It captures the classic Sonic charm while delivering exciting party game action, and its levels are much more interesting than those found in some other games of this type.

I especially loved how smoothly the game runs – the controls and gameplay were flawless. Plus, modes like Quick Rumble and Ring Survival add a lot of fun and make it very replayable. Like many similar games, you can enjoy it without spending any money.

Sonic Rumble is a really fun game that’s easy to pick up and play, with appealing graphics and characters. It combines exciting competition with lots of ways to customize your character and participate in limited-time events. If you’re a Sonic fan or enjoy party royale games, you should definitely check it out! My only complaint is that it includes advertisements, which would be better if they were removed.
