“Something that burrows under the skin”: Watch the chilling trailer for new horror movie Him
The trailer for the upcoming sports-horror film titled “HIM” has been unveiled by Universal Studios. This movie is being produced by Jordan Peele, famous for his work on “Get Out” and “Us”, along with his production company Monkeypaw.
Initially, the story unfolds much like a common sports film, focusing on a promising young quarterback, portrayed by Tyriq Withers, and his mentorship under a demanding coach, played by Marlon Wayans.
His relentless pursuit of excellence is reflected in a rigorous training routine that seems almost robotic, consisting of waking up early, exercising in the desert, hitting the gym, and repeating the process again. The narrator remarks, “You’re never good enough, you’re never good enough.” That’s what great people believe.

Things take a turn when two players butt heads, as the visuals turn to an X-ray effect.
The trailer combines sports footage with eerie cult symbols. It shows an enigmatic character in a hat brandishing a weapon amidst sandy deserts, a gathering of women dressed scantily in red and another figure donning what appears to be a bronze medieval helm known as a barbuta, mysterious faces carved into walls, an open-air ceremony, someone adorned with an animal mask, and abundant blood.
In the closing scene, our battered hero is depicted on a football field, arms outstretched in a manner reminiscent of religious imagery, facing an ominous, star-like emblem that carries a sinister undertone.
At CinemaCon, prior to its online release, Withers shared (through Deadline) that the filmmakers were fascinated by the idea of blending live sports and horror, aiming for a result that would be unforgettable, distinct, and leave a lasting impact.
He added: “You have never ever seen Marlon like this ever, ever, ever.”
Additionally featuring Julia Fox from “Uncut Gems”, comedians Tim Heidecker and Jim Jefferies, and Justin Tipping (director of “Joe vs Carole”) as the director.
HIM will be released in UK cinemas on September 25.
