Solo Leveling: S-Rank Hunters Ranked From Weakest to Strongest

In this series, it’s only natural to rank characters based on their power levels. For the lower ranks, determining who is stronger compared to others tends to be straightforward due to the quantifiable amount of mana they emit. However, the S-ranks are considered as a single group because they surpass the capabilities of machines in detecting mana emissions, implying that their skills exceed ordinary measurements.

There are established Hunter rankings that reflect the global perception of each S-rank Hunter’s strength. Since only Sung Jinwoo is able to level up, these ranks remain consistent unless a Hunter is reborn or new Hunters appear on the scene. As of now, some rankings remain unexplored and many characters have not fully revealed their full potential. In conclusion, even the strongest Hunters can be overpowered in certain situations. However, they serve as useful benchmarks for comparing Jinwoo’s power to.

Min Byunggyu Has a Lack of Offensive Abilities is a Problem

Despite being an elite S-rank healer, Min Byunggyu possesses a physically weak stature. He doesn’t boast any other unique abilities beyond healing, putting him on par with an A-rank hunter in terms of physical prowess. This might seem impressive, but it falls short when compared to other S-rank hunters worldwide. Notably, there are other National Level Hunters who possess healing abilities, indicating that Byunggyu lags behind other S-ranks in terms of overall power.

Ma Dongwook is a Tank With a Unique Power

Ma Dongwook may not be particularly powerful offensively, but he has an impressive durability. He proved to be an indispensable tank during the Jeju Island Raid. However, it’s worth noting that some of his impact in that battle can be credited to Byunggyu healing him rather than his own ability to withstand attacks. What stands out more is his propensity to grow in size, making a larger target for his enemies. Despite his guild not being as strong as others, the other top-tier Korean S-rank hunters have considerable trust in him.

Baek Yoonho Was Part of His Guild Once

Among the few high-ranked characters, he is known for excelling in long-range attacks. This trait allows him to inflict significant damage quickly. Yet, his defense isn’t as robust compared to other hunters, a trade-off he must endure. Furthermore, his apparent lack of self-assurance about his abilities leaves doubts about the full extent of his strength. As the sole ranger character in the series, there is no one else for comparison. However, this also makes him the most skilled ranger in the anime.

Yoonho’s Strength is Proportionate to His Transformation

Among the rare hunters who grasp the intricacies of their craft, Baek Yoonho stands out. He is not only the head of an influential guild but also boasts an exceptional transformation that amplifies both his strength and senses. Remarkably, even without undergoing this transformation, he surpasses other top-tier Korean S-ranked hunters in raw power. Interestingly, despite being weaker in the anime, he nearly clashes with Hwang Dongsoo, showcasing an unyielding spirit.

Fire Magic Gives Choi Jongin Versatility When He Fights

Due to his extraordinary ability in fire magic, Choi Jongin stands out as a highly adaptable and versatile hunter. Among the Korean hunting community, he’s recognized for his ability to fill almost any role during a raid, hence earning him the title “Ultimate Hunter”. Furthermore, his fire is not only powerful but also capable of being generated rapidly. Although he does have certain limitations, his proficiency in handling fire enables him to confront opponents who are even stronger than himself.

In the series, although high-tier Japanese hunters appear frequently in the rankings, they don’t make a lot of appearances. They engage in sparring matches with Korean S-rank hunters, participate in the Jeju Island Raid, and are involved in incidents concerning the break of the Japan S-rank dungeon, but their numbers make it difficult to gauge each one’s individual strength accurately. The way they interact with one another and some possessing unique abilities allows for speculation about their capabilities.

Many Japanese Hunters Died on Jeju Island Without Showing Their Skills

Tatsumi Fujishima sits out the fight against the Korean hunters. Akari Shimizu can engage in combat, however her offensive capabilities are restricted as she specializes in healing. Ippei Izawa is with Kei, yet he doesn’t display any exceptional abilities during battles. Mari Ishida is initially targeted by the Ant King in Goto Ryuji’s group. Kenzo Tanaka effortlessly overpowers Ma Dongwook in their sparring match. Kanae Tawata manages to escape Jeju Island, but she’s unable to penetrate Yuri Orloff’s shield or defeat the giants. Minoru Hoshino struggles against the giants on Jeju Island, yet he survives.

Kei and Atsushi Kumamoto Have Unique Powers

I firmly believe my ice magic outshines Choi Jongin’s, but what truly sets me apart is my heightened sensitivity to mana, surpassing Cha Haein in this regard. This exceptional sensitivity implies I possess a greater reservoir of mana than she does. Interestingly, my power is one of the rare ones that the Ant King employs against Jinwoo. Now, when it comes to Atsushi Kumamoto, his power escalates during fits of rage. However, his shy demeanor often hinders him from fully unleashing this potential.

He Never Sets Foot on Jeju Island

It appears that Reiji Sugimoto functions as a right-hand man for Goto Ryuji, suggesting he has more information regarding the plot to deceive Korea. His subsequent ascension to guild leader following Goto’s demise hints at his superior strength compared to other guild members. However, despite this power, Reiji acknowledges that Japan was unable to confront an S-rank gate break after the Jeju events, regardless of his own capabilities. He was unable to breach Yuri’s barriers, though it seems he might not have been able to even if he could.

Haein Trains to Improve Her Power

Cha Haein is frequently recognized as Korea’s hunter with the greatest prospect. Despite being one of the least seasoned S-ranked hunters, she demonstrates a proficiency in employing her abilities against monsters that is undeniable. She isn’t hesitant to engage in battles against unidentified adversaries for the sake of assisting others. This approach allows her to evaluate the strength of her opponents. Moreover, she is resolute about improving her skills and growing stronger.

Yuri’s Barriers Can Block Japan’s S-Ranks

Yuri, valued at ten million dollars daily, isn’t quite up to par with top-tier National Hunters, but he carries an air of arrogance nonetheless. His defenses can fend off Japanese S-ranks and a colossal creature, yet in combat, he tends to crumble swiftly. It’s reasonable to infer that his extensive support abilities may come at the expense of his physical prowess. Yuri is featured in “Solo Leveling: Ragnarok,” where he wields greater authority and power in the subsequent series installments.

Goto Isn’t as Strong as He Thinks He Is

In Japan, Goto has rightfully been named the top hunter. He leverages his strength to bolster his influence within his guild and in politics. Yet, he holds himself in high regard, comparing himself to National Level Hunters. However, when he faced Jinwoo, who was not even a level 100 hunter, Goto suffered defeat, showing an inflated self-perception. Interestingly, Goto fails to discern the difference between the power of the Ant King and that of Jinwoo, highlighting just how far beyond his league both these individuals truly are.

Jay Mills Stands No Chance Against a Monarch

Jay Mills ranks highly primarily due to being recognized as the 17th strongest hunter globally, with him also holding the title of Canada’s strongest hunter. However, his overconfidence prevents him from heeding Jinwoo’s cautions about the monarchs. Much like Goto, he views himself as a monarch, leading to his demise at the hands of a superior opponent. Unlike other characters in the series, Jay Mills doesn’t engage in any direct attacks, which makes his reaction time noticeably slower compared to those he has encountered.

The Scavenger Guild Treats Hwang Dongsoo Well

Without an official ranking, it can be challenging to gauge Dongsoo’s strength compared to others like Jay. However, his willingness to display his power sets him apart. Moreover, his recruitment into Thomas Andre’s guild suggests considerable power, which, combined with Norma’s upgrade, allows him to endure attacks from Sung Ilhwan and Jinwoo. In the anime, even Woo Jinchul blocks a punch from him. Dongsoo is an active and significant member of his guild.

Lennart Niermann Saves Thomas Andre’s Life

Lennart Niermann has keen insight into mana and maintains a calm demeanor. He can accurately gauge the number of shadows Jinwoo possesses even before they cross paths. Moreover, he is open to heeding cautions and collaborating with fellow hunters. Despite not being capable of overpowering a Monarch, Lennart can buy enough time through distraction when a Monarch activates Spiritual Body Manifestation, allowing Thomas to be rescued. As the 12th highest-ranked hunter globally, Lennart commands the respect he receives.

Go Gunhee Could Have Been Korea’s Strongest Hunter

In Korea, Gunhee is frequently viewed as the most powerful hunter due to his extraordinary abilities. Yet, persistent health issues hinder him from fully realizing this potential. As a carrier of the Rulers, Gunhee possesses an abundance of power over other S-ranked hunters. He’s even capable of temporarily fending off Monarchs, which is no easy task. With his strength, Gunhee effectively manages the Korean Hunter Association and commands international respect. He maintains control over the guilds as well. However, Gunhee’s heart problems will always pose a significant constraint on his power.

Jonas is Targeted by the Monarchs

Jonas is the sixth best hunter worldwide, but since he doesn’t compete at a national level, he’s often seen as less powerful by those known as Monarchs. However, it’s likely that Jonas didn’t participate in the fight against Kamish rather than him being weaker compared to other hunters. In the story, though, Jonas isn’t directly involved.

Antoine Martinez is the Only National Level Hunter That Isn’t a Vessel

Antoine Martinez is never mentioned by name in the novel, yet he remains a significant figure. In the battle against Kamish, many high-ranked S-ranks perished, but Antoine survived. Despite being a healer with less physical prowess than other S-ranks, he rose to become a National Level Hunter. Although his appearances are limited, his power, even without any additional enhancement, suggests that he might be the strongest unenhanced hunter we haven’t seen in action throughout the series.

Siddarth Bacchan Doesn’t Have a Role in the Solo Leveling Anime

Siddarth Bacchan isn’t just a National Level Hunter who doesn’t show up in “Solo Leveling”, but he does get mentioned. Instead, he plays a more significant role in “Solo Leveling: Ragnarok”. Given his status as a powerful figure like a nation’s military, he’s certainly not someone to underestimate. However, his death off-screen doesn’t receive much focus. It’s widely believed that he might have been killed by Monarchs, though it’s never officially confirmed.

Christopher Reed Dosn’t Listen to Norma Selner’s Warning

Christopher Reed leaves behind three monarchs, which can make assessing his power difficult. Yet, his fiery spirit and transformative abilities set him apart from others. Even posthumously, the fire he ignited required high-ranking hunters to extinguish it. Given that he isn’t associated with Thomas’ guild, his presence seems to balance the landscape of American hunters. Unfortunately, he ultimately meets his end due to delaying assistance when needed.

Liu Zhigang Officially Ranks Second in the World

I, an onlooker, have often witnessed Liu Zhigang, a man who relishes combat and spends considerable time managing gates. He is renowned as Asia’s strongest hunter, a title held by many. His prowess is evident in his ability to subdue numerous Jeju Island Ants, and he boasts of his readiness to challenge the Ant King. However, when confronting the giants from the shattered S-rank gate in Japan, he was surpassed by Jinwoo. Despite his immense power, he becomes less conspicuous in the later chapters of the tale.

Thomas Andre’s Most Defining Moment is Fighitng Kamish

Thomas holds the top position as the world’s premier hunter, granting him the freedom to act as he wishes due to his might and standing. Beyond his role as a vessel, his strength has been amplified by Norma. He presides over one of the most influential guilds globally, commanding numerous powerful hunters under his leadership. Thomas has endured being bitten by a dragon and numerous assaults from Jinwoo, managing to inflict harm on him at one point. Despite his immense power, Thomas hasn’t yet reached Monarch level.
