Ever since the incredibly popular second season, fans have been wondering about Season 3. There haven’t been any official updates, and comments from Aniplex executives have even hinted that another season might not happen, leaving the future of Sung Jinwoo’s story surprisingly unclear.
It looks like we might be getting some news about the Solo Leveling anime soon! Atsushi Kaneko, one of the show’s producers, recently posted a pretty cryptic message on X (formerly Twitter). It was a meme – Pepe the Frog, actually – wearing a t-shirt with a funny message about “greatful fookin happy News,” and Kaneko’s own merchandise. He captioned it saying he knows what fans are waiting for, but wants us to be a little more patient. It’s definitely a playful way of hinting that an announcement is coming!
Solo Leveling Producer Finally Hints at Season 3 On the Way
Atushi Kaneko recently tweeted something exciting, but he didn’t mention Solo Leveling by name. There’s also been no official announcement about a new season of the show. However, Kaneko has used the phrase “greatful fookin happy news” before to hint at big announcements for him and the team at A-1 Pictures. He first used it in April, but fans were let down when it turned out to be about a change in artists – Tomoko Sudo, a character designer for Solo Leveling, began working on art for this year’s Aniplex Online Fest.
Fans were disappointed the recent news wasn’t about Solo Leveling, and Kaneko noticed. He was so aware of the Solo Leveling fanbase eagerly awaiting his next update that when he finally made the announcement – which he playfully called “Greatful fookin happy News” – he immediately added a disclaimer: “Sorry, this isn’t SL information. But… SL fans should still be happy!?”
Kaneko recently used his usual phrase, “Greatful fookin happy news,” but didn’t clarify it wasn’t about Solo Leveling. Many fans now believe this means the upcoming announcement will be related to the series, even though Kaneko has said the news will be delayed a bit.
Currently, the only official news about the future of the Solo Leveling anime comes from the original author, Chugong, who mentioned he knew about talks happening regarding a continuation. Animator Kaneko recently hinted at more to come, which fits well with the plan for Solo Leveling Season 2 – a movie release followed by a third season. It looks like things are finally falling into place for Season 3!
Solo Leveling is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
