Sofia Vergara’s Doppelganger Niece Steals the Show at Miami Event

At a glamorous gathering in Miami on Thursday, a family member closely resembling a well-known TV personality attended the event.

At Stitch Lab Miami 2025, Claudia Vergara, aged 32 and a relative of Sofia Vergara from Modern Family, showcased proudly Sofia’s Toto suncare line.

Claudia showed a bright, happy grin as she struck a pose at the lively Toty pop-up event happening within the Miami Design District.

The television figure sported a sleeveless, white corset-style blouse together with a jeans skirt featuring a front split.

She put on some golden, closed-toe shoes and let her hair cascade freely beyond her shoulders.

Claudia added a touch of elegance to her outfit by wearing a necklace featuring a gold chain and a shell pendant, along with a delicate bracelet and an eye-catching timepiece.

At the vibrantly flower-adorned pop-up, Sofia’s niece was spotted giving some of the merchandise a try.

At some point, she paused to snap a swift picture alongside Karina Rosendo, the founder of Stitch Lab. Instead of a casual outfit, Karina chose a fashionable white dress.

The celebrations were formally launched for the public to attend on Friday, and they’ll wrap up over the weekend, specifically on Sunday, April 6th.

Stitch Lab gathers more than 40 of the most captivating Latin American fashion designers, conveniently located under one roof, as stated in the official description.

This week’s event featured Toty as one of several brands present, a company that Sofia established in June 2023 in partnership with the Spanish pharmaceutical firm, Cantabria Labs.

On the Toty website, Vergara discussed how she collaborated on the line with Cantabria Labs, a prominent European pharmaceutical company that has over three decades of experience and is headquartered in Spain.

The actress, Griselda, mentioned that they are highly skilled in the field of dermatology and cutting-edge sun-aging technology. She has relied on their products for over fifteen years.

Among the items available from Toty, you’ll find a high-SPF 50+ compact foundation with a creamy texture, retailing for $56.

During a past interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Vergara opened up about the importance of suncare. 

In Barranquilla, Colombia, where I was raised under consistently warm, tropical conditions, nobody cautioned me against getting sunburned or tanning.

Back in the day, I wish with all my heart I’d taken that life-changing step earlier for the sake of my entire body, but alas, I didn’t. All I could think about was shielding my face, and that was that. Ever since the ’90s, sun protection has been my face’s unwavering companion, non-negotiable.

The name of the line, Toty, is also based off of a nickname that Vergara had while growing up. 

In Latin America, everyone has a pet name, and that’s what I was given as well. My elder brother, who is two years senior to me, was the one who bestowed this name upon me.

She went on to explain, ‘People used to know me as Sofi, but he found it hard to pronounce that, so he called me Toty instead. It’s only the folks from Barranquilla who use that nickname for me, so whenever someone calls me Toty, I always think they might be someone from Barranquilla.’

Sofia’s niece, Claudia, is the child of her deceased brother, Rafael – he was tragically killed in the mid-1990s during an unsuccessful kidnap attempt in Colombia.

During a conversation with Variety last year, the actress spoke candidly about her family’s devastation following his untimely death, saying, ‘It left a lasting impact on us.’

Vergara went on to say, ‘It devastated my mother. It transformed our lives utterly. We were clueless about his murder, the reason behind it.’

Following the unfortunate event, the actress along with certain relatives relocated to the U.S. Reflecting on this period, she stated, “It proved to be challenging, as I found myself shouldering the responsibility of my entire family.

Previously, during an interview with Parade, Sofia openly shared, “My elder brother, Rafael, was tragically murdered in Colombia. It was a horrific experience.

She mentioned that her mother seemed more like a lifeless automaton. Eager to be with them, I purchased a spacious home in Miami, Florida, and we all resided under one roof. I am deeply appreciative for being in this nation.

Amidst all the hardships that arise, we develop resilience. Remember to pause, breathe deeply, and persist – not only for your own well-being, but also for the sake of those dear to you.

For quite some time now, Sofia and Claudia have been seen together in pictures shared on social platforms. Back in 2019, it was disclosed by Us Weekly that not only do they frequently appear alongside one another on these platforms, but they also lend each other their clothes.

Claudia jokingly commented, “We swap clothes frequently, and that certainly includes anything below the waist. As for clothing above the waist, well, I don’t possess the necessary attributes.

I don’t take her shoes as she’s quite tall, around 5’9″. Everything else, like purses, jackets, and denim items, I borrow without any issues since we have similar sizes.

She lends me almost everything – clothes, bags, jackets – except for shoes because of her height. I can’t borrow those as they don’t fit. However, when it comes to denim and other clothing items, we share the same size, so I can easily borrow those.

Or:

I’m always borrowing clothes, accessories, and jackets from her, but not shoes because she’s quite tall. Denim items, however, fit us both equally well due to our similar sizes.

Claudia mentioned that Sofia often advises, “Simply wear whatever suits you best, rather than blindly following fashion trends. The key is to make it look stylish on you.

The influential figure in media praised the actress profusely, admiring her greatly due to her self-reliance as she handled everything alone…She is a multitasking powerhouse and an embodiment of independence. She thrives without assistance, and it’s this quality that truly captivates me.
