Sofia Vergara makes barbed remark about ex-husband Joe Manganiello’s claim they split over having kids: ‘What am I gonna do, call him?’

As someone who has followed Sofia Vergara’s journey from the very beginning, I must say that her approach to life and relationships is nothing short of inspiring. Despite the ups and downs, she continues to maintain an optimistic outlook and move forward with grace. After the 47-year-old actor from True Blood disputed claims that wanting children influenced their separation, the actress from Modern Family, aged 52, shared that avoiding excessive contemplation is the secret to her joy.

When one spends excessive time ruminating, it often leads to feelings of depression and immobilization. She advised Variety that it’s crucial to remain active instead. “What can we possibly do in such situations? Absolutely nothing. We simply need to carry on living,” she added.

Her philosophy of not thinking ‘too much’ about a situation is the approach she is taking when it comes to Manganiello publicly refuting the reason they split. 

Despite her earlier assertion that the breakup was due to her wish to avoid being a ‘mature’ mother, Manganiello recently stated that this claim is actually unfounded.

In the end, it’s uncertain if his words were true, Vergara stated. ‘I’ve come across numerous statements attributed to me that leave me questioning, “Really?” Should I attempt to clarify with him?’

Before changing the topic, the mother-of-one said she doesn’t ‘know if he even said that.’

In his conversation with Men’s Journal, Manganiello finally spoke about the factors that caused their separation, as Vergara alluded to.

He clarified to the media that rumors about him desiring a family are unfounded. However, he admitted that they had attempted to start a family for the first year and a half.

During their initial phase of dating, the actor from Magic Mike shared that they had a significant talk about children early on, within the first month. He stated that if she was finished having children, he could understand and accept it. However, as it turned out, she hadn’t made up her mind about this matter yet.

In my commitment to her, I vowed to stay, come what may. True to my word, I remained steadfast.

Although he aspires to establish a family at some point, it’s important to clarify that disagreements about having children weren’t necessarily the reason for their separation.

‘It’s because two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens,’ he explained.

Later, Manganiello voiced his discontent about Vergara’s earlier statements suggesting that their marriage ended due to factors like her husband being younger and desiring children.

Pittsburgh expressed that he was portrayed as if he underwent a midlife crisis, and after nine years, presented someone with an ultimatum saying, “Engage in this possibly risky action for your health, or I’ll leave.” However, he emphasized that such behavior never reflected his true character.

In January 2024, Vergara disclosed to Spanish newspaper El País that their relationship ended due to a difference in desires regarding having children; while Manganiello wished for them, Vergara did not.

She expressed that she didn’t desire to become a mother at an older age, as she felt it wouldn’t be fair to the child. While she admires and respect those who choose this path, it’s no longer something she wishes for herself.

She and Joe announced their divorce in July 2023.

Just two days following the public announcement of their separation, Manganiello initiated divorce proceedings, specifying their separation date as July 2nd on the paperwork.

The reason for the end of their marriage was cited as ‘irreconcilable differences.’

Following their separation, Vergara began dating Justin Saliman, an orthopedic surgeon.

In late October, she and the doctor were first spotted together on a night out in West Hollywood.

For his part, Joe has moved on with Caitlin O’Connor, who turned 35 on August 3.

While gracing the cover of Variety,  Vergara wore a red long sleeve dress and white heels.

Other images showed her in a semi-sheer, black corset and a pair of fitted trousers.
