As someone who has been following the glitz and glamour of Hollywood for decades, I must say that this year’s Emmy Awards were nothing short of extraordinary! Having attended numerous award shows over the years, I can confidently say that the 76th Emmy Awards stood out as one of the most memorable ones.
As a devoted admirer, I’d confess that, after missing out on the Emmy for her unforgettable portrayal of Griselda, Sofia Vergara humorously chose to drown her woes with a hearty feast of fast food delights.
52-year-old former star from Modern Family, posted a clip showing her enjoying a burger peacefully at the Netflix Emmys after-party.
Sofia didn’t appear to be in the partying mood as she tucked into her treat.
Eventually, she started swaying her head softly in time with the lively beat of the music playing loudly overhead.
In a playful manner, she humorously commented on her disappointing loss by saying, ‘I didn’t win an Emmy, but I got a burger instead,’ accompanied by a laughing-crying emoji.
Although Sofia appeared emotionless in the video, she was indeed overjoyed during her reunion with friend Heidi Klum.
The pair really livened up the party, bringing joy and energy as they joined the Netflix afterparty held at Hilex, in Los Angeles.
At a glamorous event following the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards, the stars of America’s Got Talent turned heads by wearing elegant, strapless dresses that accentuated their style, and they chose to wear their hair loose.
Sofia oozed sex appeal in a cleavage-flashing red gown which perfectly hugged her trim figure.
The stunning red gown boasted a defined waistline and a billowing lower half, as Sofia Vergara opted to wear only a set of elegant silver drop earrings, leaving other accessories behind.
As Heidi, aged 51, increased the warmth, she showcased her ample figure in a bold, black strapless dress with provocative cut-outs.
The model accessorized her style with sparkling dangle earrings and assorted rings; meanwhile, Heidi let her golden hair cascade down her back.
At the party, the talent show judges moved gracefully, striking poses, dancing, and enjoying themselves in high spirits.
On that particular evening, they found themselves surrounded by impressive company, with Jessica Raine, Dakota Fanning, and Andrew Scott also present.
This year, Sofia has been recognized with a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series. This nod comes after her captivating performance as Griselda Blanco Restrepo, the renowned Colombian drug lord, in Netflix’s mini-series titled Griselda.
The role required her to wear extensive facial prosthetics, though she still looked considerably closer to her usual self than to the real-life Griselda.
She competed against a stacked lineup of actresses, including Jodie Foster for True Detective, Brie Larson for Lessons in Chemistry, Juno Temple for Fargo and Naomi Watts for Feud.
As reported by Deadline, this nomination marks her as the initial Latina, hailing from a Latin nation – specifically Colombia – who has been nominated in the Lead Actress in a Limited Series category.
After being nominated, Vergara excitedly expressed: “Wow! Griselda was my debut dramatic character, and it took us fifteen long years to finally bring her to the screen.
She expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in this series. Without her director Andres Baiz, costar Alberto Guerra, Eric Newman, the entire creative team, her partner and producer Luis Balaguer, Ted Sarandos, Bela Bajaria, and their Netflix team, as well as the incredible cast and crew, she could not have made this happen.
In an unexpected twist, I never imagined that post-Modern Family, I’d have the opportunity to contribute to a project as unique and meaningful as Griselda. It’s truly a privilege to be part of this extraordinary endeavor.
This year’s ceremony took place less than a year after the 75th edition of the show.
The event was rescheduled to take place in January, as it had originally been scheduled for September 2023; however, it was postponed because of the writers’ and actors’ strikes.
At the 76th Emmy Awards, Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon (both Emmy Award winners), and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay (Emmy-nominated) from Jesse Collins Entertainment once again took on their roles as executive producers.
This marks their second consecutive year as producers of television’s biggest night.
The 2024 Emmys ceremony aired live on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
It will also be available to stream the next day on Hulu.
