Socialite at the centre of Brighton marriage split breaks her silence to Daily Mail after her lawyer ex-husband brought his new girlfriend to society event of the year… while she was just metres away

Their split rocked Brighton’s golden mile.

Melbourne social circles were buzzing on Saturday after former couple Gianni Romano and Zana Pali both showed up at the same fancy charity event.

The ex-couple both attended the JW Foundation’s Starry Night fundraiser, a glamorous event held at the National Gallery of Victoria, but they sat at separate tables.

Jackie Epstein, a gossip columnist for the Herald Sun, reported that things were a bit uncomfortable because Gianni, a partner at the long-established Melbourne law firm Best Hooper, showed up with a much younger girlfriend.

The woman was apparently a Zana ‘lookalike’.

When we contacted Zana for comment, she responded with a blunt statement.

She didn’t seem at all concerned by the rumors about Gianni’s new partner, and she shared that she and her ex haven’t been talking, even though they have two sons together.

Things are definitely different now. I’ve decided to focus on what’s most important to me – my kids and really building something with my career. While I wish him well, I’m not currently in contact. It’s about prioritizing my own path and creating a positive future for my family and myself.

She seemed unimpressed after Zana captivated everyone at the gala with a stunning white dress. The gown featured an off-the-shoulder design and a beautifully decorated, fitted top.

The recently divorced woman made a striking entrance at the charity fundraiser for ToyBox Australia, her long gown and flowing layers of fabric almost resembling a wedding dress.

Photographers captured her as she arrived on the blue carpet, and she later posted photos and videos of her stunning outfit on Instagram.

Unlike some others, Gianni really prefers to stay out of the spotlight. I noticed he and his date completely bypassed the media wall and didn’t bother with any selfies – they just seemed to want to enjoy the event! He did share a quick video of the floor show, though, which was cool to see, so he wasn’t *completely* off-grid.

Gianni and Zana, known for appearing on My Kitchen Rules in 2016, reportedly broke up last year, though the news didn’t become public until July.

The breakup seems to have shocked Melbourne’s high-society crowd, including well-known figures like Bec and Chris Judd.

The former home of Zana and Gianni, located on Brighton’s beachfront, sold last year for $10 million. The property included a basement nightclub and a lift.

This property is located on a prestigious street known for attracting wealthy and prominent residents, including socialites and real estate investors.

Several years ago, Gianni and Zana joined the neighbourhood’s most fashionable residents when they moved in with their sons, Leo and Romeo, who are now six and five years old.

Shortly after the news of their separation became public, we spoke with Gianni near his office in Melbourne. At the same time, Zana was traveling in Europe with their sons.

Let’s just say things seemed a little tense when I noticed this dad-of-two wasn’t wearing his wedding ring. When I gently asked about a possible separation, he became quite reserved, but he didn’t actually say his marriage was *not* over, if you catch my drift. It definitely felt like something was going on.

When pressed for details of what happened, he said: ‘I don’t want to talk about it.’

Around the same time, Zana was at a wedding held at the Hyatt Regency resort in the Bay of Kotor, which is located in southwestern Montenegro.

During her visit, she shared a collection of photos accompanied by a heartfelt message: ‘Ultimately, family is all that truly matters.’

Zana became well-known after appearing on My Kitchen Rules, and then started a career as a fashion influencer. She and Gianni also became successful in real estate, allowing them to move to the Bayside area.

By late 2024, their seemingly perfect family began to fall apart, and they even unfollowed each other on Instagram, signaling a growing rift.

The end of their yearly family trips to Europe signaled trouble for the couple. Gianni remained in Melbourne, while Zana took their children to The Balkans in June, breaking a long-standing tradition.
