Scarlett Thomas revealed her singing talent on Wednesday, after making the bold decision to leave school before finishing her GCSEs to focus on a music career.
The 17-year-old singer and actress posted a TikTok video of herself singing a cover of Reneé Rapp’s song, “I Think I Like You Better When You’re Gone.”
The video’s cover image has gained significant attention, with nearly 200,000 views. It shows her casually sitting in her bedroom wearing a grey sweater and sweatpants.
Scarlett is the daughter of Coronation Street legends Tina O’Brien, 42, and Ryan Thomas, 41.
And her uncles are Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas, 37, and Love Island’s Scott Thomas, 37.

Scarlett was overcome with emotion when her father gifted her a recording studio for her 17th birthday last month.
The actor, known for his role on Coronation Street, wanted to do something memorable for the up-and-coming singer, so he built her a dedicated space to compose music.
Ryan posted a heartwarming video on Instagram of him giving Scarlett a gift she’d always wanted, along with a Drake album. He included a lovely message with the video.
He explained that he wanted to create something special for Scarlett’s birthday, knowing how much she loves to sing. He hoped the gift would be a relaxing space where she could focus on her passion.
I built a home studio in the basement as a surprise, and seeing her reaction made all the effort worthwhile.
Scarlett recently revealed she did not sit her GCSEs.
She shared her disappointment about not receiving her own GCSE results, saying it was hard watching others celebrate and she’ll always wonder what her results might have been.

She wrote in the caption, along with two red hearts: ‘Great job, everyone! Be proud of your results, no matter what they are.’
People who follow the young actress were surprised to learn she hadn’t taken her GCSE exams, and many wondered why she decided not to pursue any formal qualifications.
Many people also pointed out that grades on school tests aren’t the only measure of a person’s worth or their potential for future success.
While most young people in England do sit GCSEs, they are not a legal requirement.
As someone who really believes in lifelong learning, I’ve always thought it’s important to keep your educational doors open. Not having the right qualifications can unfortunately close off opportunities for things like college or university later on, and that’s something I’d definitely want to avoid.
Scarlett is determined to pursue a career in entertainment, just like her family. As her success grows, it seems she might not need to work a typical nine-to-five job.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the conversation around Scarlett’s career choices, and it’s interesting! There’s been talk lately suggesting that, because her acting career is projected to be so financially successful, it might not matter that she didn’t finish her GCSEs. Basically, people are wondering if her career path makes up for not completing traditional schooling, and it’s a fascinating point to consider about prioritizing different life paths.
This up-and-coming actor first gained recognition in 2023, appearing in the BBC drama Waterloo Road as Izzy, a role that interestingly made them the on-screen child of their actual uncle, Adam.

Even though her acting career is taking off, her father, Ryan, has made it clear she’s earning her success and isn’t receiving any special treatment.
She’s becoming well-known both on television and online, and experts estimate she’ll earn up to £2 million before she turns eighteen.
A recent TikTok video from the teen went viral, earning almost three million views. She’s gained a large following online, with over 236,000 followers on TikTok and 187,000 on Instagram. She started both accounts when she turned sixteen last October.
She’s frequently featured on her parents’ social media channels, and the whole Thomas family even has their own account.
This includes her famous uncles as well as Ryan’s former TOWIE star fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh.
Scarlett recently clapped back at ‘nepo baby’ claims in a video posted on social media.
Scarlett posted a fun video on TikTok of herself riding in a convertible, lip-syncing to the Commodores’ classic song “Easy” from 1977.

In the video, she wore large sunglasses, gold hoop earrings, and a brown sweater that fell off her shoulders.
In a recent video, Scarlett responded to a common criticism she receives online: accusations that her success is due to her family connections.
The young actress, known for her role in the soap opera, quickly defended herself against those who doubted her success.
Scarlett wrote on top of the clip: ‘God forbid a girl takes the chances she gets.’
