Snoop Dogg’s AFL Grand Final show was ‘moments from disaster’ as wild backstage footage sends hearts racing – after rapper delivers ‘best ever’ performance

Snoop Dogg’s performance at the AFL Grand Final was almost a disaster, as a technical problem nearly stopped the show completely.

The rapper, celebrated as the ‘King of Rap’ after his memorable show at the MCG on Saturday, apparently experienced some problems with the microphone just before going on stage.

Amazing video has surfaced, first shared by Pete Deppeler, showing the 53-year-old realizing his microphone wasn’t functioning in the players’ tunnel-all while his introduction was being played over the speakers.

Let me tell you, when we hit a snag with the sound system, my priority is always staying calm – and that’s exactly what I did. I immediately let the sound technicians know what was happening. Now, the crew? They were a little more frantic, rushing around to find a working microphone before my set. It was a bit of a scramble, but thankfully, they got it sorted out just in time!

Even though there was a moment of panic, a microphone was finally located, and Snoop Dogg went on to deliver a performance that impressed over 100,000 AFL fans. Many are saying it was his greatest performance yet.

People quickly filled the comments, noting how much pressure there must have been behind the scenes and acknowledging that Snoop’s performance was nearly derailed. They expressed concern about the stressful situation backstage and how close the show came to being ruined.

‘The sound guy was sweating bullets,’ one person wrote.

Someone else commented: ‘What a relief they fixed the microphone!!! It would have been quite a situation if they hadn’t!!!’

‘Pete my blood pressure watching this,’ one fan confessed.

Another similarly said: ‘I know it ended well, but I was still anxious.’

‘I’m having a heart attack watching this,’ one fan joked.

One site dubbed the clip, ‘Moments from disaster woweeeeeeeee.’

Snoop Dogg was celebrated as the ‘King of Rap’ after his performance at the AFL Grand Final this past weekend.

The US hip-hop icon delivered a high-energy nine-song set packed with classics and a few surprises.

Following a performance by local hip-hop artist Baker Boy and the traditional playing of the well-known song Up There Cazaly by Mike Brady, Snoop Dogg quickly got the audience excited and ready to enjoy the show. Snoop wasted no time getting the crowd into the mood.

Before the event began, Snoop Dogg was getting the crowd excited on the big screen. He was joined by a Super Bowl-style marching band and a lot of dancers.

Wearing a clean, white tracksuit with his name on it, Snoop Dogg started things off by performing his 1999 song with Dr. Dre, The Next Episode.

Next came another collaboration with Dre, Nothing But A ‘G’ Thang, and then in 2004, his song Drop It Like It’s Hot reached the top of the Billboard charts.

The rapper then performed an energetic version of his 2011 song, “Sweat,” followed by the powerful and vibrant “Signs.”

Then, Australian singer Jessica Mauboy came on stage to perform a fantastic rendition of Snoop Dogg’s 2003 hit, Beautiful.

Shortly after, Baker Boy performed alongside the headliner, covering Dr Dre’s hit song Still D.R.E. The rapper then finished the show with a spectacular display of flames shooting high into the air, and played his well-known songs Gin and Juice and Who Am I (What’s My Name). He was joined by Tash Sultana on guitar for the latter.
