Snoop Dogg makes surprise call to Team USA’s Gabby Thomas and other women’s 200-meter final medalists after they triumph at Paris Olympics: ‘Y’all made me proud today’
As a longtime fan and admirer of Snoop Dogg, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia at the news of his upcoming 12th studio album, Missionary. Having grown up listening to his music, I remember the raw energy and passion he brought to the hip-hop scene in the ’90s.
As an overly enthusiastic fan, I’d put it like this: “I, being utterly smitten, found myself echoing a cherished American custom when Snoop Dogg made a surprise call to the heroines who clinched medals in the 200-meter final for Track and Field at the spectacular 2024 Paris Olympics.”
In an exuberant tone, the acclaimed hip-hop artist, aged 52, applauds the trio of women in a Facebook Reel posted by the Team USA Track and Field account, saying, ‘You’re doing great! Keep it up!’
The video showcased Gabby Thomas, our new gold medalist for Team USA, along with Julien Alfred, who brought honor to Saint Lucia as she earned a silver medal, and Brittany Brown, another member of Team USA who took home the bronze.
Overwhelmed with pride about her achievements at the games and having the chance to converse with the Doggystyle legend himself, Brown didn’t miss an opportunity to tell the renowned rapper from California that she hails from Pomona, a city located approximately 45 miles northeast of Long Beach, his hometown.
As a dedicated fan hailing from the very same turf where your roots run deep, Pomona, California – home of none other than the one and only Snoop Dogg himself – I felt compelled to share this tidbit with you. You see, we share the same hometown pride, Snoop. Just wanted to let you know that. And for that, you made us all proud today with your recent endeavors. Your response: “You already know – most definitely. Y’all made me proud today,” was truly heartwarming and validating. Keep shining, Snoop Dogg!
Known as Snoop (originally Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.), who took on the role of a special envoy for NBC during the significant sporting event, has been a constant presence at the Olympics. He’s contributed through his commentary and collaborated with Martha Stewart, appearing both individually and together.
27-year-old Thomas has just won a gold medal in the 200m race at the Paris Games, following her successes from the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. There, she claimed a bronze medal in the same event and a silver as part of the women’s 4 × 100m relay team, earning those medals for her achievements.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, with some of her formative years spent in Northampton, Massachusetts, she had just earned a silver and gold medal in those very events at the World Championships held in 2023.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share an inspiring story about a remarkable achievement by a 23-year-old athlete from Saint Lucia named Alfred. Though he came in second place in a recent race on Wednesday, it’s essential to acknowledge his extraordinary feat: becoming the first-ever Olympic medalist for Saint Lucia! In the prestigious 100m event, she clinched gold and set a new national record with an astounding time of 10.72 seconds in the final. This incredible milestone is a testament to her unwavering dedication, perseverance, and athletic prowess.
For Brown, aged 29, this bronze medal in the 200m race represents her initial achievement in her debut Olympic games.
Previously, the proud Pomona native won silver in the 200m event at the 2019 World Championships.
Snoop has been the talk of the town since the Paris Olympics kicked off last month.
The popular rapper has been seen at numerous events both alone and alongside his longtime friend and musical partner Martha Stewart, who is 83 years old.
In the autumn of 2016, Snoop and Martha first collaborated as co-hosts for a show called “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party,” which they hosted together on VH1.
Prior to attending the Olympics, Snoop Dogg was diligently working on his forthcoming 12th studio album titled “Missionary.”
In late 2022, I enthusiastically shared on my social media platforms that I was diving headfirst into crafting fresh tunes as a dedicated rapper.
The upcoming album is being crafted by Dr. Dre, a veteran partner in his creative endeavors, who played a pivotal role in launching Snoop’s career with the hit single “Deep Cover” and producing his first studio album, “Doggystyle,” released in 1993.
On a recent chat with Stephen A. Smith during his Know Mercy podcast, I shared some exciting news with my followers – you can expect the project to wrap up by November this year.
The style of “Missionary” is often compared to the sound of the rapper’s initial albums, which were launched during the early to mid-1990s.
