Snoop Dogg is latest American celebrity to buy a stake in an English Football League club
Snoop Dogg told us long ago that he’s got his mind on his money and his money on his mind.
Currently, his thoughts are centered around employing a portion of those funds for investing in an English Football League club, aspiring to join the list of American celebrities who have done the same.
On Thursday, it became known that the renowned hip-hop artist, more commonly known as Snoop Dogg (Calvin Broadus), has become a part-owner of Swansea City football club. The specifics regarding his ownership percentage and investment amount remain undisclosed at this time.
The news broke several days following when the “Gin & Juice” rapper unveiled Swansea City’s upcoming season outfits, by appearing in the fresh home jersey in an Instagram video alongside them.

The first-ever NCAA football bowl game, now known as ‘The Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl sponsored by Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop’, has an alcohol product serving as its title sponsor for the first time.
Snoop Dogg shared his excitement about joining Swansea City as club owner, expressing in a statement on Thursday, ‘My enthusiasm for football is no secret, but what makes this move unique to me is stepping into the realm of club ownership with Swansea City.’ He added, ‘The history and spirit of the city resonated deeply with me. Swansea, like myself, embodies the spirit of a hardworking, blue-collar community that refuses to back down, always fighting back as an underdog.’
“I’m proud to be part of Swansea City. I am going to do all I can to help the club.”
Swansea City competes in England’s second-highest football league, the EFL Championship. This puts them up against teams like Wrexham, a club that made headlines when actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds bought it in 2020, and Birmingham City, where American football legend Tom Brady holds a partial stake.

12-year-old Ghalee Wadood Jr. secured a significant endorsement contract worth six figures, following an exceptional performance in Snoop Dogg’s youth football program. His dad shared that this deal will help equip him for life after sports.
Notable American celebrities with shares in European football clubs also include basketball legend LeBron James (Liverpool FC), along with retired NFL player J.J. Watt and his spouse, ex-NWSL pro Kealia Watt (who are associated with Burnley FC).
As a die-hard fan and follower of Snoop Dogg, it’s fascinating to recall his past aspirations in the world of soccer. Back in 2012, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” mastermind shared with the Daily Record his dream of investing in a particular Scottish football club.
Snoop Dogg expressed his observation that the Celtic supporters exhibit deep love for their team. He also hinted that he might consider investing in the team if any member of the board were open to selling their shares.

As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but marvel at the extraordinary transformation of a man once synonymous with gangsta rap, now shining brightly as the wholesome face of NBC’s Olympic broadcasts. It’s truly captivating to witness this decades-long evolution unfold before our eyes.
He added: “The boxes at Celtic would never be the same once I have hosted a party there.”
Now Snopp Dogg is finally a club owner, and Swansea City is happy to have him.
In a statement, the club expressed that this announcement serves as the next chapter for Swansea City, aiming to generate fresh possibilities to enhance both its popularity and visibility.
Snoop’s massive international following undeniably strengthens our chances, and it’s clear from our interactions that he’s eager to be part of our team. We anticipate his participation will aid us in fielding a highly competitive squad.
