A new episode of Saturday Night Live didn’t air this week. Instead, they showed a repeat of the episode hosted by Sabrina Carpenter.
Sabrina Carpenter’s Sexually Charged SNL Monologue
I caught the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, and let me tell you, Carpenter absolutely killed it! She hosted and did the musical performance, which is always impressive. She kicked things off with a really bold monologue – totally her style. She leaned into the playful, suggestive themes of her music, joking about being, well, very interested in… everything. She had this hilarious bit where she said, “I’m not just horny, I’m also turned on, and I’m sexually charged, and I love to read. My favorite book is the encyclopedia. It’s so big, and it’s hard!” It was a surprisingly funny line, and the whole audience was roaring.
Carpenter also explained the story behind the viral photo from her “Man’s Best Friend” album cover. She shared that she tripped after Martin Short playfully pushed her, and Bowen Yang, who was on Saturday Night Live at the time, simply helped her up by her hair – a moment captured in a wider shot of the incident.
SNL Debuts Parody Horror Movie Trailer About Social Anxiety
A new horror movie trailer playfully taps into the anxieties of introverts. The short clip shows a couple looking forward to a peaceful weekend alone, but a text message reveals they’d previously invited Carpenter’s cousin, Sarah Sherman, to visit. Their dread increases when they realize Sherman’s husband, Mikey Day – who enjoys sharing YouTube videos with everyone – will be joining them.
Weekend Update Ridicules George Santos’ Early Release
One of the biggest stories last week was the unexpected early release of former congressman George Santos from prison. Despite being sentenced to seven years, he only served 84 days. Comedian Colin Jost, on Weekend Update, joked about Santos – who is famous for lying – saying he’d shared photos of his new, muscular physique from prison.
Saturday Night Live’s Social Experiment Goes Wrong
The recent Saturday Night Live rerun had both good and bad moments. One sketch, a social experiment featuring Martin Herlihy, Kam Patterson, Ashley Padilla, and Jane Wickline, didn’t quite work. The idea—planting people dressed as Frankenstein in movie theaters to gauge reactions—was interesting, but the sketch went on for too long and lost its comedic impact.
SNL Cast Members Host Fictional Podcast As Preteen Boys
One sketch that didn’t quite work was about a podcast focused on snacks, featuring four incredibly irritating preteen boys (played by Carpenter, Wickline, Chloe Fineman, and Veronika Slowikowska). It was filled with frustrating slang, particularly the constant repetition of words like “fire” and “bet,” making it one of the least successful parts of the show.
Saturday Night Live returns with new episodes on January 3, 2026.
