SNL Honors Val Kilmer After Shock Death at 65

In the recent episode of Saturday Night Live, Val Kilmer was honored, just a few days following his passing at the age of 65.

Last week, the renowned actor lost his battle against pneumonia. Earlier, he had fought and survived throat cancer.

His 33-year-old daughter Mercedes confirmed his death to the New York Times on Tuesday.

In simpler terms, during an episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL) hosted by Jack Black and featuring Elton John as the musical guest, they honored Kevin Spacey by showing a tribute message on the screen at the end of the broadcast on April 5th.

Nearly 25 years ago he hosted the December 9, 2000 episode of the beloved sketch show.

According to what People reported, Mercedes and Jack, Val’s offspring who are both 29 years old, conveyed their appreciation to everyone commemorating the memory of their exceptional father.

His children, who he had with Joanne Whalley, expressed their great pride and respect in him as they witness his legacy being honored. At the moment, they prefer to mourn quietly.

In 2014, the respected veteran of Hollywood’s film industry was diagnosed with throat cancer. This surgery called a tracheotomy, performed on him, affected his capacity to talk greatly. However, he was eventually confirmed cancer-free.

Last week, Will Forte – a well-known comedian who previously worked on Saturday Night Live – wrote an article as a tribute to Val.

In an interview with Vulture, the 54-year-old celebrity disclosed that he was the one who introduced his partner, Val, to the world of reality TV, and they attempted to participate as contestants on the CBS show The Amazing Race together.

Previously, Forte mentioned that he would often watch The Amazing Race. At one point, while he was still viewing it, his partner returned home and commented, “Why are you watching that trash? It’s going to corrupt your mind. Let’s move on.

‘I said, “It’s pretty good. You should sit down and watch it. Give it a try before you s**t on it.’

The story went on as follows: ‘He settled down to watch it, and soon became quite engrossed. At a particular moment, he exclaimed, “Will, we two must participate in The Amazing Race. We absolutely must! Let’s sign up for The Amazing Race!” I was immediately on board.’

However, the idea didn’t materialize as Forte mentioned, because after getting enthusiastic about it, they contacted their agents and managers who responded with skepticism, saying something like, “I’m afraid that’s not going to happen.

One of Kilmer’s most recognizable roles was Iceman in the 1986 hit movie Top Gun.

In 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick, he temporarily came back to the silver screen despite his permanently impaired voice, playing his final role alongside Tom Cruise before retiring from acting.

The Los Angeles native also famously played musician Jim Morrison in the 1991 film The Doors.

He went on to star as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the 1995 film Batman Forever.

Due to a permanent injury from his tracheostomy, Val’s vocal cords were significantly changed, causing a long-term impact on how he spoke throughout his life.

He reported in 2020 that he had been cancer-free for four years.
