Smokey Robinson’s attorney: Lawsuit is an ‘ugly method’ to get money from ‘an America icon’
Smokey Robinson’s legal representative intends to petition the court to throw out a lawsuit brought against the musician this week by four ex-employees. The women are demanding at least $50 million, claiming that Robinson repeatedly engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior and asserting that he, along with his wife Frances, broke labor laws.
Attorney Christopher Frost stated on Wednesday that we’ll provide more details soon as we prepare our legal response. Eventually, Mr. Robinson will address the matter himself. As this court case unfolds, it will become clear that this is just an unscrupulous attempt to extort $50 million from a 85-year-old American figurehead.

4 former employees have filed a lawsuit against Smokey Robinson, accusing him of sexual misconduct. They are demanding a minimum compensation of $50 million and claim that both Robinson and his wife were poor managers.
Frost LLP’s co-founder, Frost, labelled the accusations as “disgusting” and “baseless,” stating that many parts of the claim are hard to believe. The legal counterargument aiming for dismissal will tackle concerns surrounding supposed deadlines, contradictions, and associations between the plaintiffs and other parties, he explained.
Frost requested everyone keeping tabs on this case to remain impartial until all pertinent details and the complete truth emerge.
As a movie enthusiast, I found myself caught up in a shocking turn of events this week. A lawsuit has been brought against the Robinsons, alleging numerous wrongdoings. They’ve been accused of negligence, sexual misconduct, false imprisonment, emotional distress, gender violence, and creating a hostile work environment, among other labor violations. These violations include issues with wages, breaks, meal periods, holidays, and overtime pay. This tale is far from the popcorn-filled escapades I usually enjoy.
Smokey Robinson expressed deep shock to the Daily Mail over the phone on Wednesday, and then seemed to struggle with words due to being disturbed at home. He stated that he’s not ready to discuss this matter at the moment.

As a die-hard fan, I’ve got to say that the title of Robinson’s fresh album, ‘Gasms,’ has certainly sparked quite a buzz, both on the web and within his own family. To put it simply, as he defines it: ‘A gasm is any delightful sensation you might experience.’
Four unidentified women have filed a lawsuit under the names Jane Doe 1 to 4, due to accusations of sexual misconduct, including rape, against the lead singer of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. Three of these women were previously employed as housekeepers, while the fourth served as his personal assistant, cook, and hairstylist, according to court documents examined by The Times.
1) From January 2023 through February 2024, Jane Doe 1 was employed by the Robinsons.
2) Jane Doe 2 held a position with the Robinsons between May 2014 and February 2020.
3) Jane Doe 3 worked for the Robinsons from February 2012 until April 2024.
4) Jane Doe 4 worked for the Robinsons from October 2006 up until April 2024.
In their legal claim, all four females assert that he frequently invited or called them to different locations at his homes in Chatsworth (located in Ventura County’s Bell Canyon), Ventura County, and Las Vegas, when his spouse was absent. On multiple occasions, they allege that he would unexpectedly appear from a shower in the nude, compelling them into engaging in various kinds of sexual acts – including vaginal, oral, and digital ones – over an extended period, according to the lawsuit.
Frances Robinson, who got married to Smokey in 2002, is alleged to have frequently yelled at them in an aggressive manner, employing derogatory ethnic terms and language. The documents state that she was aware of her husband’s actions but did not try to control him when he behaved inappropriately.

During Aretha Franklin’s funeral in Detroit on Friday, Smokey Robinson reminisced about the exact day he first listened to Franklin singing for the first time.
One of the complainants expressed apprehension about reporting the suspected misconduct as she feared potential job loss and public embarrassment. Additionally, she had concerns over her safety and well-being due to Robinson’s celebrity influence, powerful friends, and associates. Similar sentiments, without addressing immigration issues specifically, were shared by the other plaintiffs.
According to the plaintiffs, they left their jobs due to the claimed instances of sexual harassment and unfavorable work conditions.
In their complaint, all four assert that they labored 10 hours daily, six days weekly for the Robinsons, yet they were neither compensated the minimum wage nor overtime. Moreover, they worked on holidays without receiving any premium pay, according to the lawsuit. The housekeepers earned between $10 and $18 per hour, while the assistant received $15 an hour initially, later getting a raise to $20 an hour.
Back in 2006, when I was just starting my journey as a film enthusiast, California’s minimum wage was a modest $6.75 an hour. Over the years, it gradually climbed up the ladder, and by 2024, it stood at a respectable $16 per hour, except for those working in big fast-food chains. In sunny Los Angeles County, I found that the minimum wage was a generous $17.27 an hour, while my friends in Las Vegas were making a minimum of $12 per hour.
Attorney Frost stated that he’ll provide further details concerning the issue, as they vigorously counter these unfounded accusations and strive to safeguard their clients’ reputations.
