Smile star Caitlin Stasey to headline new survival thriller Killing Breed

As a long-time fan of Caitlin Stasey’s captivating performances and her knack for portraying strong, resilient characters, I can’t help but feel an electrifying sense of anticipation for her upcoming role in “Killing Breed.” Having witnessed her harrowing journey through the terrifying world of Smile, it’s intriguing to think about what challenges she will face next.

Actress Caitlin Stasey, known for her exceptional role in the popular horror film “Smile,” is gearing up for a fresh adventure as she steps into the limelight for the upcoming survival thriller titled “Killing Breed.” Set to grace our screens with her presence, here’s what we know about this exciting project so far.

To begin with, it’s important to note that we don’t have much information yet about this movie, given that it was recently announced. But rest assured, we will keep you updated with any new details as they become available.

As a gamer, I’m recognized for my role as Laura Weaver in Smile. My character was pivotal, having gone through a harrowing ordeal with a baffling entity that ignited a terrifying sequence of events that formed the spine-chilling plotline of the movie.

In “Killing Breed,” it remains undisclosed who the actress will portray, but we do know the film’s plot. The story unfolds as a family battles fiercely for survival at a secluded Outback lodge, facing an uncontrollable bushfire that ravages everything in its path. Moreover, they find themselves in a life-threatening situation against three ruthless dogs that have been trained to attack and are now roaming freely in the wilderness.

As a gamer, I’m pumped to share that Aussie talent Matt Day penned the script and will steer the helm for a thriller flick set to roll cameras Down Under in May 2025. Stasey and Damon Herriman (known for his roles in ‘Better Man’ and ‘The Bikeriders’) are on board, but the characters they’ll be playing remain under wraps. So far, only these two have been cast, with more talent expected to join this exciting project!

Here’s what Day had to say about getting the opportunity to make this film via Deadline:

Killing Breed is a character-driven survival thriller grounded in raw, authentic emotion, and I’m beyond excited to have talents like Caitlin and Damon on board to bring this story to life.

Furthermore, it’s worth noting that Monster Pictures Studios, Head Gear Films, and Triptych Pictures are collectively producing this upcoming thriller film. As reported by Deadline, Architect is handling global distribution for the movie, and they have already showcased it to potential buyers. It is speculated that the release date will be some time in 2026.
