Dee Salmin showed everyone she’s unlike most AFL wives and girlfriends at a party in Melbourne on Tuesday. She stood out from the crowd at the Australian Open‘s Take Off Party with a particularly striking fashion choice.
Most of the prominent women at the football event wore heels, but Triple J radio host, age 30, stood out with a vibrant pair of sneakers.
Oh my gosh, she absolutely killed it with that entrance! It was so unexpected and instantly made her the center of attention – everyone was staring! And of course, all eyes were on her and Darcy Moore, my absolute favorite Collingwood player – he’s 29 and just… perfect. Seriously, they were the power couple of the night, and it was all thanks to her amazing confidence!
The 30-year-old woman went to the event in the Emirates Suite with Darcy, and she looked comfortably stylish.
Dee paired a grey striped corseted top with a simple, flowing white skirt.
Her brightly colored sneakers – a mix of orange, lilac, and yellow – really stood out and gave her outfit a fun, unexpected twist, which was unusual for the wives and girlfriends of AFL players.
The shoes were a striking departure from the heels worn by Nadia Bartel, Lindy Klim, and Abbey Holmes, who all opted for more classic styles.
Dee completed the outfit with a white leather shoulder bag and kept her makeup fresh and minimal.
Darcy and his girlfriend looked perfectly in sync, both sporting casual, coordinated outfits – he in a striped polo, dark trousers, and sneakers. It was clear they share a similar sense of style.
Dee has developed a reputation for her headline-grabbing fashion moments at exclusive events.
The broadcaster is famous for her bold and often surprising fashion choices. A memorable example is the dress she wore to a fancy gala in December – she styled herself after Marie Antoinette and the gown was actually sourced from a charity shop!
The Triple J radio host of The Sunday Hook Up has also gained attention for sharing her strong opinions, especially about her relationship with Darcy.
In July 2024, Dee surprised people by explaining her preference for living separately from Collingwood’s captain, even though they’re in a relationship. She shared on the ABC shows Ladies, We Need To Talk and The Sunday Hook Up that she highly values having her own independence.
Dee talks about sex education on Triple J’s The Sunday Hook Up, and recently shared details about their relationship on the ABC show, Ladies, We Need To Talk.
She explained that she and her partner aren’t currently living together, and they both lead very separate, full lives.
‘We get to have so much of what we had when we were still single in our relationship.
‘But I wonder how much you can actually upkeep that when you do end up living together.
‘So much of it is hetero-dynamic learnt behaviours you might fall into.’
She seemed to be saying that she and Darcy don’t follow the traditional pattern where women do most of the housework and chores when they live together.
