Slow Horses star in first-look trailer for new true story drama

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in narrative-driven games, I must say that the upcoming series “Lockerbie: A Search for Truth” promises to be a gripping and poignant tale of justice and resilience. The trailer alone has already piqued my interest, with its captivating performances by Colin Firth and Catherine McCormack, and the intriguing glimpse into their characters’ three-decade long quest for truth.

The debut trailer for the new drama titled “Lockerbie: In Quest of Truth,” starring Colin Firth and Catherine McCormack from “Slow Horses,” is now available.

A five-part documentary recounts the real-life journey of Jim (Firth) and Jane Swire (McCormack), who pursued justice following the tragic loss of their daughter, Flora, among the 259 lives claimed by Pan Am Flight 103 in 1988.

Following the bombing that claimed an extra 11 lives in the main Scottish town, Jim steps forward as the officially designated representative speaking on behalf of the unified families of the UK victims. They are calling for transparency and justice.

As I traverse diverse landscapes and ideological boundaries, my unyielding odyssey threatens not just my equilibrium, loved ones, and existence, but fundamentally shatters my faith in the fairness of the legal system. (My paraphrase)

Walking through the twisted threads of Lockerbie’s tragedy has left my perspective irrevocably altered. The gripping narrative of Lockerbie: A Search For Truth follows one man’s journey, a husband and father, who dares everything in honor of his daughter and the relentless quest for truth and justice. This tale is more than just a story; it’s a piece of my own memories now.

The upcoming series premiering on January 2nd offers a glimpse into Jim and Jane’s thirty-year quest for justice. This journey takes them across different corners of the globe, where they find themselves involved in conferences and court cases.

Beyond Firth and McCormack, the series also features Sam Troughton, Mark Bonnar, Ardalan Esmaili, and Guy Henry. Directorial responsibilities are split between Otto Bathurst and James Loach.

Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant, Executive Producers at Carnival Films, stated that the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 was an extremely destructive act of terrorism which tragically claimed the lives of 270 blameless individuals, among them citizens from both the United States and the United Kingdom.

For more than three decades, we, as representatives of the UK victims’ families, have closely followed Jim Swire’s extraordinary journey. Now, it’s awe-inspiring to witness Colin Firth portray Jim’s lifelong efforts in a compelling manner on the big screen.

As a gamer, I found myself deeply engrossed in a tale that masterfully intertwined themes of love, loss, and resilience. This narrative wasn’t just a political thriller; it was a testament to the power of an ordinary individual with unyielding determination, capable of challenging governments and global leaders in their pursuit of truth.

Lockerbie: A Search for Truth premieres on Sky Atlantic and Peacock on January 2, 2025.
