What to Read Next
I just finished reading *Anxious People*, and it’s such a captivating story! It all happens on the day before Christmas Eve. Basically, it follows a bank executive who ends up at a house viewing, and things get really crazy when a bank robber-who doesn’t seem to want to be robbing a bank-takes everyone hostage. It’s a wild ride!
During a festive open house, a bank employee and several guests are taken hostage when a clumsy criminal’s scheme falls apart. As the situation becomes more stressful, surprising relationships develop and secrets are revealed among the people trapped together.

Critics loved the book, calling it funny, heartwarming, and full of surprises. Reviewers consistently praised the novel by Backman.
According to *USA Today*, Fredrik Backman excels at creating heartwarming stories filled with memorable characters and thoughtful observations about life’s big moments – like marriage, raising a family, love, and loss – all delivered with both humor and deep emotion.
Buzzfeed described the book as a real emotional rollercoaster, saying it made them both laugh and cry, and that they immediately recommended it to all their friends. People magazine praised its wit, wisdom, and humor, calling it a uniquely enjoyable and original story.

According to *The Washington Post*, Backman once again beautifully portrays the complexities of the human experience. The book is both witty and emotionally resonant, capable of eliciting both hearty laughter and genuine tears.
Okay, so I just finished reading this book, and honestly, it was surprisingly heartwarming and hilarious. It really gets into how a bunch of totally different people can connect, and it does it in a way that just *feels* real. The author doesn’t shy away from showing everyone’s flaws – nobody’s perfect, right? – but he does it with so much understanding that you end up really caring about these characters. It’s a good reminder that there’s always more to people than what you see on the surface.
