As a dedicated fan with an insatiable appetite for gripping spy dramas and a soft spot for the quirky characters of Slough House, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming fourth season of Slow Horses! Having binge-watched each season multiple times, I can confidently say that this show is a gem among the sea of mediocre television.
For the fourth season of “Slow Horses”, a sneak peek has been released, featuring a fresh character making their debut.
In my gaming world, I’d say, “I’m immersed in this Apple TV+ series, where I follow Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, leading a group of underrated agents at Slough House – an MI5 outpost often overlooked and considered the ‘espionage afterlife.’ We’re living our days in the shadows here.”
After three triumphant seasons, the group plans to come back on September 4th for their following adventure. In this installment, things become deeply personal as River Cartwright’s (Jack Lowden) family, particularly his grandfather David (Jonathan Pryce), find themselves in danger.

The opening scene finds gruff Lamb showing novice Emma Flyte (played by Ruth Bradley) a rundown workplace. His manner is grumpy, as usual. However, the tension escalates when explosions rock various locations in London.
It appears that Frank Harkness (Hugo Weaving), a suspect, is not only targeting the Cartwright family but also seems involved. Additionally, there are brief glances of the underhanded MI5 chief Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) and various individuals from Slough House.
In the fourth season, the storyline is derived from Mick Herron’s novel series, specifically “Spook Street”. This narrative follows David Cartwright, a former member of the intelligence service who remains privy to the locations of secrets long buried.
However, if he carelessly reveals secrets instead of keeping them hidden, it puts a bullseye on his back… Jackson has a history working with David. He’s well aware that this seemingly harmless elderly man isn’t as innocent as he appears. Therefore, when River’s distress signal sets off an alert at the Intelligence Service Headquarters, Lamb will take whatever measures he deems essential to safeguard an agent in danger.

Additionally, events stemming from the finale of the third season are significant, as River exposed a confidential document that unveiled some questionable activities within MI5 during the downfall of Ingrid Tearney, who was played by Sophie Okonedo. These hints were subtly introduced by the show’s creator, Will Smith.
As a gamer, I can tell you that at the end of season three, Taverner seems to think she’s achieved her goals. But let me assure you, things take an unexpected turn when the new series begins. There are consequences from River’s leak, but they’re not as straightforwardly connected to what she leaked as one might expect.
Slow Horses season 4 premieres on Apple TV+ on September 4.
