Get set for the fourth installment of the intriguing British spy series, “Slow Horses”! Here’s a simple rundown on how to catch up with the new episodes. Excited for season 4?

2022 marks the premiere of the series “Slow Horses,” based on Mick Herron’s spy novels. The story revolves around Slough House, an MI5 intelligence service division for agents who have made mistakes. Jackson Lamb (portrayed by Gary Oldman), a gruff, sarcastic, and gassy veteran, heads this branch. Despite being assigned to mundane tasks, the “slow horses” under his command often find themselves entangled in missions that jeopardize Great Britain.

For each season, a distinct novel from the series has been chosen as inspiration, and the upcoming season 4 is no exception, opting for the 2017 book titled “Spook Street.” The storyline finds our team entangled in an investigation of a bombing that uncovers deeper secrets, while protagonist River grapples with personal issues concerning his MI5 veteran grandfather.

What is the episode release schedule for Slow Horses Season 4?

The fourth season of “Slow Horses” begins on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, on Apple TV+. The first two episodes will air that day, and new episodes will follow every week thereafter. Since there are just six episodes in total, the season concludes on October 2. Here’s a look at the episode release schedule:

  • Episode 1: September 4
  • Episode 2: September 4
  • Episode 3: September 11
  • Episode 4: September 18
  • Episode 5: September 25
  • Episode 6: October 2

In the opening episode, titled “Identity Theft,” you can find its summary along with that of the subsequent episode, number two, named “An Uninvited Guest Arrives,” detailed for your perusal here:

  • Episode 1 synopsis: “A London bombing puts Taverner under pressure; when River grows concerned about his grandfather, Louisa encourages him to go for a visit.”
  • Episode 2 synopsis: “A naïve agent makes a discovery about the Westacres bomber. Lamb suspects that David knows more than he’s letting on.”

For British television shows, six episodes per season is usually the norm, and since we’ve got word that there will be a fifth season of “Slow Horses”, we can look forward to it soon! The show spotlights Oldman, who delivers a brilliant performance as Lamb, a character who seems careless but in reality, is incredibly sharp and efficient.

Additionally, the ensemble includes Kristin Scott Thomas playing Diana Taverner, Lamb’s superior; Jack Lowden as River Cartwright; Saskia Reeves as Catherine Standish; Rosalind Eleazar as Louisa Guy; Christopher Chung as Roddy Ho; Samuel West as Peter Judd MP; Sophie Okonedo as Ingrid Tearney; Aimee-Ffion Edwards as Shirley Dander; Kadiff Kirwan as Marcus Longridge, and Jonathan Pryce as David Cartwright.

Joining the cast for the first time is Emma Flyte, portrayed by Ruth Bradley, serving as a connection between the primary MI5 headquarters and Slough House. Additionally, Hugo Weaving takes on the role of this season’s antagonist, Frank Harkness, who in the past has been responsible for forming a lethal squad, earning him the chilling title of “the monster.”

Slow Horses season 4 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024 with the first two episodes on Apple TV+.
