The show “Slow Horses” has been confirmed for two additional seasons, with Gaby Chiappe taking over from Smith starting in season 6, while Ben Vanstone from “A Gentleman in Moscow” will join the team for season 7.

In simpler terms, Smith stated to Deadline, “Series 5 doesn’t wrap everything up, but it does bring closure to some plotlines initiated in Season 1. It seemed like the right time to pass on the show’s responsibility.

Moreover, the Emmy-winning individual clarified his choice to withdraw from the series, stating that this move has no connection to his latest achievements.

He clarified, “I don’t mean to imply at all that I consider myself above the team of Slow Horses now.

Beyond just maintaining my current level, I strive to exceed expectations for the Slow Horses. I wouldn’t want anyone to think, “He didn’t quite reach the mark” about me.

I simply don’t want to overstep boundaries, and I feel compelled to leave when I am confident that I’m giving my absolute best for everyone involved in the production.

Slow Horses” features Gary Oldman portraying the commander of a team of agents who’ve been demoted to Slough House, a sort of exile for disgraced MI5 personnel.

In Season 5, the group grows wary as Roddy Ho acquires a stylish new love interest and a string of peculiar incidents unfold throughout London.

Slow Horses season 5 premieres on Apple TV+ on 24 September.
