Sledgehammer Games Co-Founder Michael Condrey Reportedly Fired by 2K

2K is said to have let go of Michael Condrey following the release of their internal studio’s debut game, Project Ethos, which did not create a significant impact globally.

The game appears to be a free-to-play hero shooter, and it currently seems that either you rapidly become successful in this genre or you’re easily overshadowed.

The report originates from Kotaku, with their sources stating that Condrey was terminated and is currently acting as a consultant for the game.

2K expressed their gratitude towards Michael Condrey for his commitment, enthusiasm, and hard work that helped construct a remarkable team and establish the vision of 31st Union. (This version aims to convey the original message in a more conversational and engaging manner.)

Regarding Michael’s new position, the company representative stated, “Michael is temporarily shifting his responsibilities to offer guidance on the future of Project Ethos. Rest assured, we are firmly dedicated to the progression of Project Ethos, as well as maintaining the team and culture at 31st Union studio.

Michael Condrey is primarily recognized for being a co-founder of Sledgehammer Games and his significant contributions to the Call of Duty series. He took charge of games such as Call of Duty: WWII, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

Apart from that, he was the director for two well-regarded Bond video games, namely “James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing” and “From Russia with Love”. He also helmed a relatively obscure title known as “Dead Space”.
