It appears that EA and developer Full Circle are rumored to have incorporated in-game purchases (microtransactions) within the Skate closed alpha test. This move could potentially signal their intention to include them when the final game eventually goes live, whenever that may be. An early access version is planned for release sometime this year.
In simpler terms, the upcoming game known as Skate 4 (or simply skate) has been announced as a free-to-play title, which typically means there would be in-game purchases. It’s surprising to find microtransactions appearing even during a closed playtest. The developers haven’t specified yet if these purchases will transfer to the final game or if refunds will be given once the playtesting phase is completed.
According to Insider Gaming, the internal report states that the in-game currency within Skate is referred to as ‘San Van Bucks’. These bucks are exclusively used for decorative items. In order to meet our objectives during the early access phase, we have allowed players to purchase and utilize virtual currency (San Van Bucks) in our ongoing closed alpha testing, as communicated via a message within the game.
Your input would significantly enhance the quality of our early access debut for Skate. We’re looking forward to sharing it with you soon, although the exact launch date is still undetermined at this point.
