SiriusXM is launching an all-access sports audio subscription

SiriusXM is leaning into its sporty side.

The satellite radio company is introducing a new plan called Sports Pass, designed for sports enthusiasts. For just $5 a month, subscribers can listen to live broadcasts of almost every major sporting event, including all home and away games.

Starting September 1st, SiriusXM will provide a wide-ranging sports package, covering everything from Formula One racing to international soccer.

According to SiriusXM CEO Jennifer Witz, the SiriusXM Sports Pass is designed to give sports fans access to all the games, local broadcasts, and national commentators they want in one easy and affordable subscription. It aims to connect fans with the teams and personalities they care about, no matter where or how they listen.

Netflix is expanding into daily live streaming. Beginning June 1st, they will launch with “The Breakfast Club” radio show, a partnership with iHeartRadio.

This subscription gives you access to live NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL games, plus every race from NASCAR, IndyCar, and Formula One. You’ll also get coverage of the PGA Tour and WWE events. Beyond the live action, the Sports Pass features insightful analysis, podcasts, and 24 local sports radio stations, including ESPN LA 710.

SiriusXM is highlighting the importance of sports with a new subscription package. The company notes that sports content is a major reason people listen, and more subscribers are engaging with it than ever before. SiriusXM also offers other plans: an all-music plan for $11.99 per month, and an all-access plan for $25.99 monthly which includes music, sports, and news.

SiriusXM is aiming to be the ultimate destination for sports fans who listen on the radio by offering all these sports through one subscription, according to media analyst Lee Berke. This convenience usually keeps people engaged with the service for longer periods of time.

According to Berke, a single service offering access to all sports and major events would eliminate the need for fans to look elsewhere. To keep subscribers engaged year-round, it’s crucial to cater to a wide range of sports interests – not just focus on one type of fan.

Fox and Telemundo saw strong audience levels topped only by the Super Bowl.

Beyond sports coverage, SiriusXM is popular for its music channels – featuring artists like Pitbull and Kelly Clarkson – and talk shows with hosts such as Howard Stern and Andy Cohen. Based in New York, the company reaches about 255 million listeners and boasts 33 million subscribers, making it a major player in North American audio entertainment. SiriusXM also owns the streaming platform Pandora, which they purchased for $3.5 billion back in 2019.

According to Witz, each new addition – whether it’s a channel, artist, live event, or creator partnership – helps move us closer to our long-term goals for audio.
