Sir Rod Stewart’s ex-wife Alana, 80, sparks concern as she is hospitalised with ‘stubborn’ lung infection a month after battling Covid

Alana Stewart, who was previously married to Rod Stewart, recently shared that she’s in the hospital with a lung infection that won’t go away. This comes just over a month after she recovered from Covid-19.

The 80-year-old former model and actress worried her fans when she posted a video on Instagram Tuesday.

Alana is receiving two weeks of antibiotics through an IV at UCLA Santa Monica. She needed this stronger treatment because pills weren’t effective in clearing up her infection.

Alana Stewart, who was married to Rod Stewart from 1979 to 1984 and shares two children with him – Kimberly, 46, and Sean, 45 – has been advised to start receiving fluids through an IV. However, she’s hesitant because she’s allergic to some medications.

Speaking from the hospital garden, she updated her fans on her health, explaining she’s been battling a long-term lung infection. She’d already tried several oral antibiotics without success, so she’s now receiving antibiotics through an IV for two weeks to fight the infection.

It’s not exactly enjoyable, but I’m optimistic about my recovery and hoping to feel completely healthy again soon. I’m doing well, and I’m lucky enough to be able to walk in their beautiful meditation garden every day – it’s a really peaceful spot.

Okay, so I’ve been dealing with a really persistent infection lately, and honestly, it’s been a bit scary. My doctors had been suggesting IV antibiotics for a while, and I finally decided to go for it. I’ll admit, I was pretty terrified – I have a lot of medication allergies, so the idea of an IV was daunting. But so far, everything’s been going really well, and I’m so glad I listened to their advice!

She admitted that being in the hospital wasn’t ideal, but it had its perks – like being taken care of and not having to worry about daily chores. She expressed her gratitude to the kind doctors and nurses and hoped to get better quickly.

Oh my gosh, I’m so worried! It’s been four weeks since Alana first told us she got Covid while she was in Florida, and she’s been so open about how she was doing, posting updates all through September. Now she’s *hospitalized*? I’m seriously freaking out and just hoping she gets better soon. I’ve been following her journey so closely, and this is just… awful.

Okay, so she *finally* posted! I was seriously worried! Apparently, she’s been totally out of sight because she got Covid on Monday. Ugh, it’s making the rounds *again*, and I’m so bummed for her! I’ve been checking her page constantly, and I’m just relieved she finally let us know what was going on.

I’m gradually recovering with fluids and vitamins at Sollis Health. I always worry about Covid because it often leads to lung issues like bronchitis or, even worse, pneumonia.

I was *so* worried when I saw she posted another update! It was days after everything, and there she was, sharing a photo from some wellness clinic in Boca Raton. She said she was *still* coughing and just not feeling herself, even though her tests came back negative. Honestly, it just broke my heart to see she was still struggling! I’ve been checking her social media constantly, of course.

She shared with her followers that she was back for another laser and COVID detox treatment, believing it helped her bounce back from illness faster than she normally would.

By mid-September, she seemed to be recovering, as she posted a photo of herself enjoying the Florida sunshine on her balcony.

She shared that she felt fortunate to have recovered from Covid without major health problems, though she did experience a cough that lasted a while and felt tired for some time afterward.

Her breathing problems seemed to get worse after she came back to Los Angeles, and that’s why she’s now in the hospital.

Alana isn’t sure if her current lung infection is due to Covid-19. She mentioned on X (formerly Twitter) in 2022 that she was fully vaccinated, but still got sick. It’s unknown if she’s received any booster shots since then.

People immediately expressed their support, with one fan writing, ‘I’m so sorry to hear this, and I’m sending my best wishes for a quick recovery, Alana.’

Another wrote: ‘Alana you’ve had problems with this since covid, hope you feel better’

As someone who’s observed a lot of relationships, I’ve always admired a graceful approach to moving forward. That’s definitely the case with Alana Stewart! She was married to George Hamilton for four years – a long time ago, back in the 70s – and later to Rod Stewart. What’s really lovely is that she’s still friendly with both of them. It just goes to show you can maintain positive connections even after a marriage ends, and I think that’s a really healthy attitude.

She and George share actor son Ashley, 51, and have long referred to themselves as ‘best friends’.

I’ve always admired how Penny and Rod Stewart have navigated their relationship, even after their split in the mid-80s. They’ve clearly prioritized their two children and built a really strong co-parenting partnership over the years – it’s a beautiful thing to see!

Over the years, they’ve come together for family occasions, such as their son Sean’s wedding to Jody Weintraub in 2023. Although Sean and Jody are now divorced, the pair happily posed for pictures together at the wedding.

Sir Rod is now married to model Penny Lancaster, with whom he shares two sons.

Even though she’s been dealing with health issues, Alana seemed positive in a recent video from the hospital. She was dressed comfortably and spoke while sitting in the hospital’s peaceful garden.

She told her fans that the trees are beautiful and starting to change color, creating a lovely autumn atmosphere, and there are plenty of nice spots to relax.
