Richard Branson shared a photo of himself on Necker Island with his arm in a sling, explaining he injured his shoulder.

The 75-year-old businessman traveled to his property in the British Virgin Islands to hold a memorial service for his wife, Joan, who passed away in November.

Richard kicked off the New Year with a sunny hike and shared a photo of himself without a shirt, adding some thoughtful reflections to the post.

He updated his fans, saying his shoulder was healing well and he appreciated the opportunity to relax and spend time with family.

Richard shared that he saw a rainbow over Necker Island while celebrating the new year. He expressed gratitude for everyone’s kind wishes, noting that his shoulder is healing and he enjoyed a relaxing holiday with his family, filled with reminiscing.

Richard Branson recently honored his late wife at a moving New Year’s service that included music, joyful moments, and heartfelt sadness.

The event was attended by Richard Branson’s two children, Holly, 44, and Sam, 40. Both were born before his marriage to Joan on Necker Island in 1989.

A video circulating on social media shows Richard Branson, seemingly with a hurt arm, walking along the island’s rocky shore with his children and friends. They were all wearing the same white shirts and walking in a line.

The business mogul, known for Virgin, spoke about his late wife, though the reason for her death hasn’t been revealed. Guests toasted her memory with champagne.

He explained in his post that his family has always valued celebrating people both during their lives and after they pass away, and that’s exactly what they did to honor Joan.

We had a wonderful celebration on Necker Island, filled with stories, music, joyful moments, and heartfelt emotions, all to celebrate an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Branson shared that the family decided to remember Joan under the brightest full moon of a lovely month, hoping to capture her unique and special spirit.

Photos showed the businessman and his son lost in thought while sitting on the wide beach of Necker Island, under the rising moon.

Sam, her son, shared posts about the service, describing it as ‘a very special service for a very special woman.’

In a November post, Branson shared with his Instagram followers that the couple consistently showed their affection for each other and always prioritized creating wonderful experiences together.

He shared that his sister, Vanessa Branson, described their grief as uncomplicated. This is because they had deeply loving and fulfilling relationships with Joan, expressing their feelings and creating wonderful memories together. They felt they had said everything they needed to say.

It really reminded me how crucial it is to maintain good relationships with the people in your life, because you never know when you might lose the chance. Life is fleeting.

Holly, her daughter, also paid tribute, sharing her feelings about the sudden loss of her mother. She remembered her as a truly special person – one of a kind, intelligent, and incredibly kind.

Holly shared childhood photos of her mother, Joan, and said her family is grateful for the overwhelming support they’ve received since her passing. They feel very loved by everyone reaching out.

It’s been hard to find the right words, taking me a couple of weeks to write this, because how can you possibly describe 44 years of someone’s unwavering love?

My mum was truly wonderful. She had a gift for making everyone feel loved and special, and she showered us all with affection. Her family – me, Freddie, Sam, Bellie, Dad, and her grandchildren – meant everything to her, and we always knew it. I’m so grateful for the love she gave us.

We all know our parents won’t live forever, but it’s still shocking when it happens. It’s amazing how time helps you adjust, even in just a couple of weeks.

The sadness I initially felt has given way to a profound thankfulness for my wonderful mother, who was always so loving and kind to us all.

My mum is truly one of a kind, and honestly, I aspire to be more like her all the time. Just the other day, I was out shopping with my granddaughter, Etta, and I found myself letting her pick out a few extra treats – something I probably wouldn’t have done before, but I’m trying to embrace her spirit!

Etta noticed I was acting like my grandmother, Amma, and pointed it out. It’s exactly how I want to be – I want to embody her qualities every day so I can be the best wife, mother, and eventually, grandmother possible.

I just wanted to say how incredibly touched I am by all the kindness everyone has shown me lately. The messages, cards, flowers, and especially the hugs, really meant the world to me these past couple of weeks. It’s made such a difference, and I’m so grateful for all the support.

I haven’t been able to respond to all the messages, but I’ve read every single one and they’ve truly touched me. We’re feeling so much love and support from people around the world.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m always fascinated by innovators, and Sir Richard Branson is definitely one of them! He’s the driving force behind the Virgin Group – you probably know some of their ventures, like Virgin Atlantic, the airline that really shook things up. But it doesn’t stop there – he’s also ventured into space tourism with Virgin Galactic and even launched a satellite company called Virgin Orbit. It’s amazing to see someone constantly pushing boundaries and exploring new possibilities!

He wrote in a 2020 blog post that he first met Joan in 1976 at The Manor, a recording studio that used to be in Oxfordshire, England.

Branson wrote that Joan was a practical, no-nonsense Scottish woman, and he soon understood she wouldn’t appreciate his typical playful behavior.
