Sir Elton John hold hands with husband David Furnish as they step out in London after watching a preview of his new musical Devil Wears Prada
As an ardent fan of Sir Elton John, every moment I get to witness his extraordinary journey is like a dream come true! The iconic musician, with his impeccable style and timeless charm, never fails to leave me spellbound.
On a Monday evening, Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish left the renowned Claridge’s in London, both looking sharp and stylish.
77-year-old musician and his 61-year-old companion spent an enjoyable evening watching the musical adaptation of “The Devil Wears Prada” before its upcoming premiere in London over the following weekend.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I found myself mirroring the impeccable style of Sir Elton John during the film’s musical adaptation event. Dressed in a sleek black suit jacket and matching trousers, I complemented the ensemble with a crisp, white shirt – a timeless pairing that exuded sophistication and elegance.
He added a silver cross necklace and wore a pair of thick-framed glasses to the event.
Meanwhile, filmmaker David opted for a black suit over a classic white button-up shirt.
In 2014, the couple, fresh from their nuptials, exited a luxurious hotel with smiles on their faces, linked arm-in-arm.
This October marks a significant milestone for Sir Elton John, as his new musical adaptation of “The Devil Wears Prada” will debut at the Dominion Theatre in London on the 24th.
This musical boasts an exclusive composition by Sir Elton, the lyrics penned by Shaina Taub, and a script written by Kate Wetherhead.
Discussing his motivation behind composing the musical score, the musician shared with RadioTimes.com: ‘The movie is timeless and it’s held up beautifully over time, especially when it comes to fashion and music compatibility. There were numerous scenes in the film that seemed perfect for music, making it an easy choice for me.’
Writing for this type of music is simply delightful as it’s not like writing for Shakespeare; instead, it’s a blast!
‘It’s got fantastic costumes, an incredible cast, and brilliant choreography.’
Although Sir Elton may not be as well-known for his work in musical theater composing compared to his singing, he has nonetheless created some of the greatest musical theater scores ever.
25 years after The Lion King’s release, he received an Oscar, and also played a part in the initial run of Billy Elliot on London’s West End in 2005.
Additionally, he collaborated with his spouse David and Rocket Entertainments on the musical productions such as Tammy Faye, Next Fall, Rocktopia, Holler If Ya Hear Me, and others.
In the year 2023, Sir Elton decided to stop touring after wrapping up his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which brought in $939.1 million from a total of 328 performances. This made it the second highest-grossing tour ever, as reported by Billboard.
Additionally, his tour earned him the title of the most-viewed Glastonbury main act ever, as approximately 120,000 spectators filled up the Pyramid Stage on Worthy Farm, while an estimated 7 million viewers tuned in from their homes.
According to the BBC, this was the largest overnight viewership ever recorded for a Glastonbury performance, and they accounted for approximately half of all television viewers during that show.
During the show, a peak viewership of approximately 7.6 million individuals was recorded for a span of five minutes, as reported by the corporation.
‘Oh wow. I never thought I’d ever play Glastonbury. And here I am,’ Sir Elton told the crowd.
Tonight holds great significance and emotion for me, as it could potentially be my final performance in England and all of the United Kingdom.
