As a devoted fan with a heart full of admiration for the legendary Sir Elton John, it’s hard not to feel a pang of concern reading about his latest health struggles. The man has been an unstoppable force of music and creativity for decades, and now he finds himself battling against an invisible enemy – a severe eye infection that has taken away his sight in one eye.

Sir Elton John has shared some news about his current health status, as he now experiences reduced vision in one of his eyes due to a serious eye infection.

77-year-old music icon shared that he recently lost vision in his right eye while in France during the summer, which now prevents him from seeing, reading, or watching anything.

In an interview with ABC News on Monday, Elton John, discussing his upcoming documentary titled Never Too Late, expressed uncertainty about his capacity to produce fresh music due to his dedication to prioritizing his health.

He said: ‘It’s been a while since I’ve done anything. I just have to get off my backside. I unfortunately lost my eyesight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the south of France.

It has been four months since I lost my sight, and my left eye isn’t in the best condition. However, there’s a glimmer of optimism and support that things will improve soon, but for now, I find myself in a challenging situation.

‘I have the ability to accomplish tasks such as this, however, when it comes to entering a studio and recording, it’s uncertain, as I can’t visualize lyrics at first.’

Currently, our focus is on making improvements, and that’s where all our efforts are being directed at this time.

In a straightforward manner, the renowned musician expressed, “I find nothing lucky about such incidents. They left me utterly stunned, and I can neither perceive nor consume any information or entertainment right now.

Nevertheless, demonstrating an innate optimistic outlook, Elton expressed his thankfulness for his life by remarking: ‘I feel incredibly fortunate, I believe I am the most fortunate man on earth.’

I’m incredibly proud of that documentary, my sons, and the way I view myself amidst everything happening. Truly fortunate and thankful am I.

Over the past years, I’ve been a fervent supporter through thick and thin with Elton, who not only battles visual problems but has also grappled with numerous other health hurdles. After undergoing knee replacement surgeries on both sides and a hip replacement following a fall, he was compelled to postpone his farewell tour initially planned for 2021.

The musician known for “Rocket Man,” who performed his last concerts during the summer, spoke about vision problems in September.

He took to his Instagram with a lengthy post, explaining how he spent the past few months ‘recuperating at home.’

Over the summer, I’ve had a serious eye condition that has resulted in reduced sight in one of my eyes.

Recovery is happening gradually for me, but regaining vision in the affected eye will be a lengthy journey that requires patience.

I’m incredibly thankful for the exceptional medical staff, comprised of skilled doctors and nurses, as well as my dear family, who have provided me with outstanding care during the past few weeks.

Elton found: ‘I’ve been peacefully recovering at home during the summer, and I feel optimistic about the advancements I’ve made so far in my healing and recuperation process.’

After the EGOT winner confessed that he wasn’t sure about how much time he had remaining, he spoke candidly about mortality in his recently released documentary last month.

In the movie Never Too Late, Elton contemplated the reality of his own life span, admitting that he frequently reflects on both life and the inevitability of death.

In the movie, a particular scene shows the musician seated in his dressing room during his last tour, taking a moment to glance over his belongings, as depicted by the mirror.

Later on, he confesses, “I’m pondering what will become of all these possessions once I’ve finished? This seems to be the later stage of my life. I’m unsure about how much time is left for me.

As you grow older, contemplation of life and its transience becomes more frequent. You might find yourself reflecting, “I simply wish to be in the place I desire right now.
