Sir Bob Geldof brings rock star flavour to the Melbourne Cup
As a seasoned festival-goer who has witnessed the rise and fall of many music icons, I must say, attending the Melbourne Cup Carnival was a refreshing change of pace. Sir Bob Geldof, a name etched deeply into the annals of rock history, graced us with his presence at this year’s event, adding a dash of bohemian charm to the high-class affair.
Sir Bob Geldof arrived at the Melbourne Cup Carnival on Tuesday.
The 73-year-old Irish musician, now in Australia for the filming of the comedy movie “Zombie Plane,” exuded elegance upon his arrival at Flemington Racecourse.
The iconic rock star wore a black suit paired with a purple shirt for the surprise outing.
He went without a tie, opting for an informal yet-chic-look as he worked his angles at the event.
The lead singer of The Boomtown Rats sported his long, disheveled white locks and carried off an elegant beard with panache.
Geldof flashed a smile when he removed his glasses with the message etched on them, striking a pose for the photographers, then departed to partake in the celebrations.
But Sir Bob wasn’t the only famous face at the Race That Stops the Nation.
Among the celebrities gracing the occasion were Elizabeth Hurley, Samantha Armytage, Sylvia Jeffreys, and Olivia Molly Rogers.

On Tuesday afternoon, numerous celebrities flocked to the renowned ‘Birdcage’ at Flemington, indulging in an array of premium dishes. They were offered exquisite French Champagne, customized cocktails, and delectable meals prepared by esteemed five-star culinary experts.
2019’s esteemed guests are also partaking in the current luxury culinary craze known as “caviar mounds,” where they savor the costly delicacy from small piles placed on their hands.
As reported by Daily Mail’s source, Jana Hocking, these days, only a select group was indulging in beverages at the exclusive location, quite unlike the past when celebrities were notorious for their lively and extravagant behavior.
At the event, renowned visitors will be graciously welcomed by G.H. Mumm, our esteemed champagne sponsor, alongside other distinguished partners: Furphy, the makers of Penfolds wine, Lexus, and Crown Resorts.

Additionally, Channel Nine boasts its unique venue, while Don Julio unveiled a lively, pink-accented tequila bar that serves exquisite signature drinks and hosts live DJ acts.
On Tuesday, I, a devoted fan and admirer, was fortunate to be part of the guest list at the Lexus marquee of The Birdcage, where the renowned music producer, Paul Fisher (aka Fisher), celebrated his 38th birthday. What an unforgettable experience!
Thousands flocked to Flemington Racecourse as they prepared for the 3pm start of the 164th Melbourne Cup event, set to take place there.
2024 Melbourne Cup was won by Knight’s Choice in a close race, edging out Japanese horse Warp Speed by just a whisker.
