Siphon has returned to Fortnite in Ranked and Competitive
As a veteran Fortnite player who’s seen the rise and fall of numerous game mechanics, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and exhilaration as Siphon makes its triumphant return to the battle royale arena! It’s been over a year since we last felt that rush of adrenaline as we closed in on an opponent, knowing that with each elimination, our health reserves would grow.
Siphon is FINALLY back in Fortnite!
Siphon has returned to Fortnite for the first time since Epic Games removed the mechanic in May 2023. Following the FNCS Global Championship 2024, the developers announced that Siphon would return in Ranked and Competitive. Today, Epic announced the Siphon Trials, a weekly test phase for players and developers to better understand which version of Siphon works best. Here is everything you need to know!
Fortnite Siphon Trials explained
In Ranked Battle Royale, Zero Build mode, as well as competitive tournaments, Fortnite’s Siphon Trials will take place. Every seven days, the advantages provided by the Siphon will shift, giving players a varying benefit when they defeat an opponent. For instance, during week one, defeating an enemy rewards you with 40 combined Health and Shield points. This could increase to 50 combined Health and Shield points in subsequent weeks, with these benefits continuing to change until November 5 concludes week six.
Siphon Trials Schedule
- Week 1 (starts today): 40 Effective Health
- Week 2 (starts October 1): 50 Effective Health
- Week 3 (starts October 8): 25 Effective Health
- Week 4 (starts October 15): 75 Health Over Time (No Shield)
- Week 5 (starts October 22): 50 Health (No Shield)
- Week 6 starts (October 29): 25 Health, 25 Shield

What is Siphon?
In the game Fortnite, a feature known as Siphon enables players to regain Health and Protection points when they defeat opponents. This feature was commonly used in professional matches and Arena Mode for quite some time, but it mysteriously disappeared from the game in May 2023. Since then, competitive gamers have been advocating for its return. After a span of one year and four months, Siphon has made its comeback.
