Ryan Coogler’s film has proven to be a hit upon its release, outperforming box office predictions and earning praise from both critics and viewers. The film’s success may be attributed in part to its unique approach to vampires, as it departs from the traditional horror genre. In fact, one of the movie’s stars, Delroy Lindo, stated that he never regarded Sinners as a horror production during filming.
Lindo, who portrays Delta Slim in “Sinners“, discussed his experience working on the film during a recent interview. He reminisced about his initial response to the script, explaining why he views “Sinners” as distinct from typical horror films. The actor additionally commended director Ryan Coogler for their collaboration, noting that it provided him with an opportunity to contribute creatively to both the screenplay and the development of his character’s direction.
Lindo made it clear that the film wasn’t a horror movie for him. Instead, when he read the script, he viewed it as a story about the consequences of a community being betrayed and turning against itself. That’s how he approached the script, and he shared his thoughts with Ryan. He expressed his initial feelings about the script to Ryan, and Ryan agreed with him. Moreover, Lindo also pointed out areas where he believed the script needed improvement, and Ryan concurred. From the beginning, they were in agreement about the direction they wanted to take the project.
Lindo went on to explain, “I’ve realized that the terror portrayed in this tale mirrors the reality when a community begins to attack itself, or when self-violence arises within its own ranks, which is called internal conflict. In other words, it’s a story that reflects our modern times. As Black people, we grapple with this issue because a significant amount of the violence in our communities often stems from us inflicting harm on ourselves. So, from this perspective, it’s a very current story.
Michael B. Jordan Has Dual Roles in Sinners
The film titled “Sinners” features Michael B. Jordan portraying two identical twins, who return to their old hometown in the year 1932, only to discover it plagued by a sinister, supernatural force. Delroy Lindo, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, and Wunmi Mosaku are among the other talented actors gracing the screen. The movie has garnered an impressive 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, along with a 97% audience score. Moreover, it holds the top spot after its successful opening weekend.

Sinners is now playing in movie theaters.
