R&B singer Ray J was arrested on Thanksgiving morning, as confirmed by police and jail records.
Police arrested 44-year-old Willie Norwood, known professionally as an artist, on suspicion of threatening someone with a crime, according to LAPD Captain Mike Bland.
According to jail records, Norwood was arrested at approximately 4 a.m. by officers with the LAPD’s Devonshire Division, which covers areas of the San Fernando Valley like Chatsworth and Northridge.
Mr. Bland didn’t share specifics about what happened or where Norwood was taken into custody. Jail records show Norwood was released on a $50,000 bond just a few hours after his arrest.
Ray J, the brother of Brandy Norwood, gained popularity with songs like “One Wish” and “Sexy Can I.” Recently, in October, his ex-girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, filed a defamation lawsuit against him following statements he made in a TMZ documentary.
Ray J and Princess Love Norwood, an actor and producer he met while co-starring on the reality show “Love & Hip Hop,” are getting divorced. Their relationship, which was often rocky and played out on the show, resulted in two children. People magazine reported they began divorce proceedings last year.
