Singer looks unrecognisable in blood-spattered Carrie costume as she promotes her new single with Halloween-themed post
As a longtime fan of Little Mix and their empowering music, I was thrilled to see Jade Thirlwall stepping out of the group’s shadow and embracing her individuality with her new line of merchandise. It’s clear that she’s no longer bound by the “ceiling” imposed by Little Mix’s demographic, and I’m excited for this new phase in her career.
Jade Thirlwall recently posted an entertaining behind-the-scenes clip from the video of her latest hit song, Fantasy. In the footage, she appeared almost unidentifiable while wearing a costume splattered with blood.
In a nod to the classic horror film “Carrie,” the 31-year-old performer found herself drenched in simulated gore during one of the scenes, drawing comparisons from fans who recognized the striking resemblance.
On Tuesday, a video posted to her Instagram profile depicts Jade at the conclusion of the music video, drenched in red fluid.
The fake blood covered her dazzling gold dress and curly long brown hair, which were teamed with a pair of towering platform heels.
Jade captioned the clip: ‘Girl of your nightmares.’
Fans commented on her resemblance to the horror character Carrie by saying: ‘Carrie has some serious competition now, girl!’ or ‘Look out Sissy, Chloe, and Jade – CARRIED’s got some competition!’; ‘Carrie would be jealous of those nails, emoji.’
Last week Jade revealed new X-rated merch to celebrate her new song – leaving fans baffled and delighted in equal measure.
On her social media, Jade, fresh from releasing her fourth single, gave a sneak peek at items available in her upcoming merchandise line that will be officially launched on December 6th.
Instead of the typical selection of t-shirts, hoodies, and mugs, what’s causing a stir is a package named the ‘Jade X Fantasy Howl Box’.
For a pre-order price of £75, this adult set comes with four unique pieces: a sleep mask for the eyes, a candy-like thong, a keychain adorned with a miniature butt plug, and a tube of silicone-based lubricant.
In a recent tweet, former X Factor girl group member Jade, who was once part of the group with Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson, expressed: “I’ve got whatever suits your style for you, darling.
Her cheeky tweet has been seen more than 1.7million times and has elicited varying reactions.
‘BUTTPLUGS???’ one shocked fan replied, as another agreed: ‘Not the butt plug.’
But other fans praised Jade and said: ‘I AM CRYING JADE KNOWS HER AUDIENCE.’
Another commented: ‘THIS is the merch all celebrities should be selling
A third jested: ‘Well… fair enough. I do love a good mug.’
Jade is far from the first celebrity with a large LGBTQ+ following to release risqué merch.
After her 2020 dance-pop album Chromatica, Lady Gaga introduced a hot-pink jockstrap as merchandise, while Charli XCX, originally from Cambridge, previously offered a sex paddle and branded douche for sale along with her album. In relation to her latest album Brat, she opted to sell a key on a necklace instead.
Jade has defended her own X-rated choice of merch by calling it empowering.
She shared that her recent song, titled “Fantasy,” expresses the idea of having the confidence with your significant other to freely delve into your secret desires.
The singer has been dating Rizzle Kicks’ Jordan Stephens since 2020.
When inquired about the explicit merchandise, Jade shared with Vogue: ‘I’m working together with my friend Samuel Douek on a sort of “Fantasy” collection, combining some of his items and some of mine. It’s enjoyable being able to do projects like this.’
In addition to being a filmmaker, Douek also runs a CBD-infused lubricant company called Howl. This product is included in Jade’s collection.
She added: ‘Clearly, for Little Mix, there seemed to be a limit to how much we could expand our reach within our audience demographic.’
I’m looking forward to incorporating the same spirit of enjoyment and empowerment into my projects, tailored uniquely to my perspective as a 31-year-old woman.
When buying the merch on Jade’s website, an alert pops up asking the shopper: ‘Are you over 18?’
Besides the adult-themed package, fans also have the option to purchase a set of colored headbands, often symbolizing discreet representation within the LGBTQ+ community about one’s sexual orientation.
You can also pre-order a black thong for £30 and a matching hoodie for £70.
Jade became well-known when she joined the band Little Mix, a group that originated during the eighth season of The X-Factor back in 2011.
Initially consisting of four members, Little Mix has accumulated more than 15 billion global streams, earning them a spot among the most successful girl groups ever, boasting hits such as “Wings,” “Black Magic,” and “Shout Out to My Ex.
The music they produce is often labeled as empowering for women and a source of pride within the LGBTQ+ community, which has led to a massive fanbase among this group and even earned them the British LGBT Award in 2019.
In total, Little Mix managed to sell over three million concert tickets globally and graced stages in more than twenty different nations.
As a lifestyle advisor, I find myself reflecting on the journey of the iconic girl group from 2020. You may recall that Jesy Nelson chose to embark on a new path, leaving the trio composed of Jade, Perrie, and Leigh-Anne. Fast forward two years, these talented ladies decided it was time for a break, opting to go on an indefinite hiatus to focus on their individual endeavors and solo projects.
