Singer Khalid speaks out about ex-boyfriend’s claims he was abusive after being outed as gay

As a longtime fan of Khalid’s soulful R&B tunes, I was genuinely shocked to read about the recent turn of events involving him and Hugo D Almonte. Having followed Khalid’s career since his teenage years, it’s heartening to see him rise through the ranks and achieve great heights in the music industry.

Khalid speaks up regarding troubling accusations from his former partner, simultaneously revealing that he identifies as gay.

On Monday, the 26-year-old vocalist, following last week’s public disclosure of his sexuality after a series of online posts, used both Instagram and his old Twitter account to refute accusations that he had been abusive in a past romantic partnership.

Conversely, he implicated his former partner, musician and rapper Hugo Almonte, as the abuser in their romantic ties.

Khalid, who goes by his given name and not Robinson, mentioned that he and someone else had actually parted ways long ago. This seems to be at odds with an earlier report suggesting their separation was more recent.

On November 23rd, Almonte told Rolling Stone that the singer attempted to suppress or hush him following their breakup, without explicitly naming Khalid.

In the video posted by Khalid, where he is clearly seen wearing a casual red hoodie up-close, he stated, “I’ve never openly blamed anyone for burglarizing my home, and only those in my inner circle have any knowledge of such an incident.

He explained that he didn’t discuss the rumored burglary with his followers as he prefers to keep his personal matters private.

Almonte had also accused Khalid of using cocaine, which he strenuously denied in the clip.

He stated that he will discuss the matter of the pink substance mistaken for cocaine. He emphasized that he has never used cocaine at any point in his life, and he chooses to avoid situations where such substances are present or associated with him.

Despite confessing to smoking marijuana occasionally and drinking moderately, he emphasized firmly, “I’ve never used cocaine in my entire life, genuinely.

Khalid was similarly dismissive of claims that he had paid for the services of sex workers.

He went on to discuss the topic of him accompanying people. He clarified, “I’ve never engaged in transactions for sexual services, not even once. I’ve also never compensated anyone to go out with me or form a romantic relationship with me, at any point.

The artist who sings for Young Dumb & Broke raised a point about the initial reasons behind the accusations, stating that he and Almonte parted ways approximately four years prior.

‘Where is this coming from? You tell me, ’cause I really don’t know,’ he said.

Khalid expressed that he wanted to correct a misunderstanding since the initial comments on Amonte’s posts were upsetting or unsettling for him.

As an ardent admirer, let me clarify: It’s not about a continuous storyline, no sir. But when I see some remarks casting me as a mere manipulator or abuser, it sets off alarms. Frankly, it’s mind-boggling to me.

Additionally, he claimed that Almonte misrepresented the identity of the abusive party during their relationship.

Khalid said the abuse ‘was the other way around, and that’s what hurts the most.’

He expressed that it’s truly aggravating and he wishes for everything to end as everyone else does. One significant factor keeping him away from drama is precisely this situation, as he chooses to keep himself detached from such instances.

He expressed that he wasn’t feeling good about the situation, stating, ‘Since I’m not pleased with this, I won’t pretend to be unfazed. In fact, let me make it clear, I never claimed to be unfazed. On the contrary, this bothers me significantly.’

On Friday, I shared a message on X that went like this: “[LGBTQIA+ pride flag]!! Here it is. Let’s move on to the next topic now, chuckle.

‘Wait hope Mr Khalid isn’t GEHHH!’ someone replied to which the singer reposted and wrote: ‘I am! And that’s okay.’

The lovely hitmaker was not done speaking his truth as he continued on the microblogging site.

He wrote: ‘I got outted [sic] and the world still continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality!

‘In reality it ain’t nobodies [sic] business! But I am okay with me [black heart emoji] love yall.’

He remained active on the site as another commenter wrote: ‘the closet was glass baby. but we accept you. its not about who you love its about your artistry! [white heart emoji]’

Khalid re-shared and replied saying, “There’s nothing I was concealing! It’s simply none of your concern.

A different fan shared a snipped of the singer dancing in the music video for his track Satellite.

The follower captioned it: ‘Then there was the LGBTQ anthem he gave us in 2022 but ya’ll kinda slept. Either way.. hate that Khalid was forced out but he wasn’t “hiding” it. He just didn’t need to TELL nobody.’

Khalid showed gratitude for a comment made by his fan, sharing it along with the caption: “Thank you!!! I wasn’t keeping secrets.

He finished off his eventful night on the site by saying: ‘aight love yall thank yall I’m off this [peace hand sign emoji]’

It appears that the R&B artist’s recent mention could be about some social media posts made by fellow artist Hugo D Almonte.

30-year-old performer, known for his R&B music, stirred conversation on platform X this morning with the tweet: “One well-liked R&B singer from the LGBTQ+ community, experience my… (let’s keep it G-rated) and it was far from satisfying.

Hugo didn’t halt his conversation, instead, he went on to explain: “After breaking up with her, this unintelligent singer – who is not exactly easy on the eyes – attempted to frame me by accusing me of breaking into her house and lying. The irony is, why would I go to your home and cause all that trouble if we had already broken up?

Many individuals in the comments were trying to figure out whom he might be alluding to, with several suggesting it could be Khalid.

Hugo responded: ‘Y’all really really want me to blow this s*** up.’

Later, the Dominican-American rapper and vocalist appeared to validate the suspicions of many by publicly revealing that Khaled was indeed in a close, affectionate relationship with him, as evidenced by a selfie they shared together.

He wrote: ‘B**** a** [ninja emoji] lied and said that I broke into his house cause I didn’t want him.’

Khalid’s career has been thriving, with his songs “Location” and “Young, Dumb & Broke” reaching the Billboard Hot 100 and earning diamond certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
