Simone Ashley is now barely in F1: The Movie – here’s why her role was cut
In the movie “F1,” the actress who played in “Bridgerton,” Simone Ashley, has minimal screen time due to most of her scenes being removed during the film’s editing process.
Last summer, it was announced that the actor would feature in the upcoming Formula 1 racing movie, sharing the screen with Brad Pitt and Damson Idris from “Black Mirror”. Despite this, her character’s screen time is limited, as she doesn’t have any spoken lines in the film.
In a chat with PEOPLE, director Joseph Kosinski commended Ashley’s contributions to the upcoming movie project. Discussing the reasons behind her character being eliminated, he stated, “On every film, there’s often more footage shot than can be included in the final cut.

“There were two or three storylines that ultimately didn’t make [it] into the final cut.”
Let me tell you, Simone is an extraordinary performer, a powerhouse of acting, singing, and everything in between. If given the chance, I’d jump at it to collaborate with her once more.
Previously this month, Ashley shared her thoughts about the exhilarating journey of filming her minor role during an interview with ELLE, expressing her gratitude for being included in that movie. In the movie titled
F1: The Race, Pitt portrays Sonny Hayes, a veteran driver who re-enters racing and assumes a mentoring position alongside newcomer racer Joshua “Noah” Pearce (Idris), as part of APXGP – an imaginary 11th team on the race track.
The film also stars The Crown‘s Tobias Menzies and The Banshees of Inisherin‘s Kerry Condon.
In March, Ashley shared that she had discussions regarding the movie “F1” prior to her successful portrayal of Kate Sharma in the second season of “Bridgerton”.
She shared with Who What Wear, “It’s been quite some time, but let me tell you, this film is by Damson and Brad. I feel incredibly fortunate to be involved in it.
Collaboration was crucial in our work. On occasions, we only got a single chance to capture specific shots since they were being filmed concurrently with races. As you can tell from the schedule, there were limited time slots – just eight minutes to complete one task.
In the movie, legendary Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton is also acknowledged as a producer, along with Brad Pitt, Jerry Bruckheimer from Pirates of the Caribbean, and others.
F1: The Movie arrives in cinemas on 25 June.
