Simone Ashley addresses career change for new British rom-com
As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for both pixels and reality, I’ve been keeping a keen eye on the rise of Simone Ashley in the movie world. From her captivating performances in Netflix hits like Sex Education and Bridgerton, she’s proven herself to be more than just a pretty face. Now, with her upcoming Christmas movie, The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland, and her debut as an executive producer on Picture This, it seems that Ashley is making a conscious effort to leave her mark not just in front of the camera, but behind it as well.
Simone Ashley has been leaving an impression in the film industry, having gained recognition following her appearances in popular Netflix series like Sex Education and Bridgerton.
Right now, the star is releasing a Christmas movie titled “A Christmas Night in Wonderland” which will be available on Sky Cinema this coming Friday (December 13). Additionally, she’s set to make her first appearance as an executive producer for an upcoming British romantic comedy called “Picture This“.
Ashley played a significant role in shaping the new film prior to its shooting, actively participating in key creative discussions.
In an interview with Digital Spy, she shared that when she initially received the script, there were numerous adjustments she desired. Consequently, they turned the project almost completely on its head during production, which is why it’s now something entirely different.
I’m incredibly appreciative of the assistance provided by production company 42 MP, as they were fully on board with the modifications I desired for the script. Their contributions were truly significant and meaningful to me, spanning from casting decisions to costume choices and music selections.
I was keen to feature Kiran and Nivi in our soundtrack since they’re an exceptional pop duo. Their videos left me amazed the moment I began watching, so I reached out to them via social media.
Ashley admitted she feels she still needs some time and experience before stepping into the director’s chair for a film, but expressed eagerness about delving deeper into producing roles in the future.
She’s familiar with the genres of films she intends to produce, including a movie like “A Christmas Eve Tale in Wonderland.
As a youngster, Ashley spent countless hours engrossed in animated films, ranging from Disney to Pixar and more. This constant exposure seems to have instilled within her an imaginative spirit and a perpetual perspective of the world that’s reminiscent of childhood.
It’s crucial to emphasize a straightforward, universally applicable concept for adults. What I believe we should focus on when educating our youngsters is instilling self-confidence, promoting kindness, encouraging positive thinking, and fostering an understanding that they have the power to shape their own future.
“That’s what I really want to do with my career.”
The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland is released on Sky Cinema on December 13.
