Lauren Silverman, Simon Cowell’s fiancee, playfully suggested on Wednesday that they might have a funeral before their wedding, given their current pace of planning.
I remember when they first met – it was way back in 2004 in Barbados! But it wasn’t until around 2012 that they actually started dating. Then, in 2014, they had their adorable son, Eric, and just recently, in 2021, they got engaged. It’s been lovely watching their relationship grow over the years!
Four years after he proposed, Lauren jokingly commented on how long they’ve been engaged during a recent interview.
While on ExtraTV, host and Simon Cowell’s former partner, Terri Seymour, playfully asked if he and his current partner are planning to get married soon.
Lauren replied: ‘You mean like for a wedding? Is that what that means?’
The presenter made a joke about something being ‘for a funeral,’ and Lauren responded with a laugh, saying, ‘At this point, who can say what will happen first?’

I’ve been really enjoying the new Netflix docuseries, The Next Act, featuring music mogul Simon and his partner Lauren. It’s a fascinating look into Simon’s journey across the country as he scouts for the next generation of amazing musical talent. It’s a really personal peek into their lives too!
Before the show came out, she hinted that it was going to be intense, saying, ‘Simon is already difficult, but adding Eric as his partner makes things even worse – it’s truly awful!’
Simon hinted that a wedding is coming soon, now that his fiancée, Lauren, has officially changed her last name.
The show features glimpses of Simon Cowell’s home life with his partner Lauren and their son Eric, age 11. One episode includes Lauren legally changing her last name to Cowell.
Simon, who had often said he wasn’t eager to get married, has confirmed he and Lauren will tie the knot after proposing to her on Christmas Eve in 2021.
He said he avoided talking about it happening anytime soon. He explained that when they decide to make it official, they’ll keep it private at first, then share the news. However, he noted that her mentioning changing her name strongly suggests what’s coming next.
‘We have a very, very close bond. I adore her. We are a very happy family, genuinely,’ he gushed.
Simon shared that even though he had to convince Lauren to be in his new show, the process actually made him love her even more.

He told Us Weekly that she was hesitant at first about being filmed, but quickly became comfortable. He also shared that what viewers see on the show is exactly how she is in person.
‘When I was watching the show back, I was absolutely cracking up at some of the scenes.
During a scene about changing her name, Lauren explained she wants to drop her former married name. She was previously married to businessman Andrew Silverman and they share a 20-year-old son named Adam.
Let me tell you, I’m Lauren Cowell, and I’ve built a wonderful life with Simon. We’re a family – we have a child together, and honestly, we have a really strong, happy relationship. It means the world to me.
She explained the name change was about feeling connected to Simon and Eric. It was about family unity and everyone sharing the same last name. Simon had expressed a desire for her to change it, not as a demand, but simply as a statement of who they were as a family.
Though he had often said he wasn’t interested in marriage, the man changed his mind after meeting Lauren. She was completely surprised when he proposed.
Simon met Lauren when she was still married to millionaire property developer Andrew.
In late July 2013, Simon’s life was turned upside down when it became public that he was having an affair with Lauren, and that she was pregnant.
In 2015, Simon admitted to Mail on Sunday Event magazine that he was ashamed of the situation, saying he couldn’t feel good about how things had unfolded.
He confessed the pregnancy wasn’t intentional, but recalled attending the first ultrasound scan with Lauren.
I started calling him Tad because he reminded me of a tadpole. Then, suddenly, I felt an overwhelming need to protect both him and his brother. It was a feeling I hadn’t anticipated, and I realized I really wanted him as part of my life.

Simon had often said he wasn’t interested in getting married, and he was also concerned about how marriage might affect his money.
I’ve always been fascinated by Simon Cowell, and I remember reading his thoughts on marriage years ago, back in 2008. He basically said he wasn’t a believer in it, especially not for someone working in the entertainment industry – and considering his success, with a fortune around $600 million, you can see why he’d feel that way!
Honestly, people often find that after getting married, their partner quickly takes advantage of them financially, and the relationship just doesn’t last.
He’s dated several well-known women in the past, including Sinitta, Jackie St. Clair, and Terri Seymour.
There were rumors he was secretly dating Louise Payne, a model known from Page Three, after her separation from her husband, Right Said Fred singer Fred Fairbrass, but he never publicly acknowledged them.
