Simon Cowell insists he ‘absolutely loved’ doing the ‘spirit tunnel’ on The Jennifer Hudson Show despite baffling fans with his ‘awkward’ clapping

Despite online criticism, Simon Cowell says he really enjoyed participating in Jennifer Hudson’s show’s popular ‘spirit tunnel’ entrance.

As Simon, 65, walked down the hallway, the crew serenaded him with a song set to the tune of ‘The Greatest Showman,’ and the America’s Got Talent judge happily clapped along.

Simon reached the end of the corridor and joked, ‘Can I do that again’ before walking on set.

The BGT star sat down with host Jennifer, who asked, ‘Did you enjoy the spirit tunnel Simon?’

He exclaimed how much he enjoyed it, saying it was the best entrance he’d ever seen and jokingly asked if he could use the same idea for America’s Got Talent.

‘Oh you know what, if you invite us to do it for you,’ Jennifer said.

‘I think it’s brilliant. I want to do it twice, I might do it on the way back,’ Simon said.

After the talk show posted the amusing video on X, previously known as Twitter, viewers playfully commented on Simon’s unusual clapping style.

People are reacting to a new, unusual clapping style. They’re joking that the arm movements look strange and funny, comparing them to a kangaroo’s and questioning what’s happening with the hands after the clap.

‘Is this his first time clapping? Why is he clapping like that?’

It’s strange how he’s clapping and then curling his fingers in. Simon, blink twice if you’re okay and need assistance! This is a bit awkward, so feel free to remove this message. What was that hand movement during the clap?

Simon arrived at the America’s Got Talent set in Pasadena, California earlier this month, making sure he brought his workout gear with him.

You know, as someone who focuses on wellness, I always admire when people prioritize their fitness. I spotted this celebrity out and about, and even though he’s known for his incredible physique – he told everyone he does 100 push-ups *daily* – he was keeping it super relaxed and comfortable in his workout clothes. It just goes to show, you can work hard and still keep things low-key!

He wore his usual dark grey, fitted T-shirt to highlight his physique, paired with loose, cut-off shorts.

After a serious electric bike accident near his Malibu home in 2020 left him with a broken back, Simon completely changed his lifestyle. He now consistently gets enough sleep, exercises regularly, and has lost over 20 pounds.

He’s mentioned before that he works out both at home and in his office.

Simon used to start his day with 100 push-ups before his bath. He’d also do more whenever he had a break at work, like after a meeting – he’d close the door for privacy and get right to it.

He gripped his Perfect Push-up handles, designed to reduce strain on the wrists and elbows, boost muscle engagement, and help him get the most out of his push-ups.

Simon smiled and took a moment to say hello to the fans who had been waiting outside the studio in the sunshine.

He’s openly talked about losing three stone and admitted he sometimes prefers a simple meal like beans on toast to going out to restaurants.

The America’s Got Talent judge clarified that he didn’t have weight-loss surgery. He explained his weight loss is the result of a significant change in diet and healthier eating habits.

Simon shared that a doctor told him his diet was extremely unhealthy – one of the worst they’d ever encountered. Since then, he’s committed to a new eating plan, eliminating pies, red meat, and gluten.

Simon recently told The Sun that he hasn’t had a gastric band, pointing out that such a procedure would leave scars.

The celebrity revealed he consulted a Harley Street doctor about a specific diet plan.

After getting blood and urine tests done, I received the results a month later. The doctor told me my diet was the worst he’d ever seen – he compared it to what a schoolchild might have eaten in the 1960s.

He found out I was allergic to a lot of things – just from me eating some pies! He sent me a list of foods I needed to avoid, like red meat, dairy, sugar, and gluten, and I mostly followed it.

Simon shared that he usually doesn’t order much food when he eats out, claiming he doesn’t have a large appetite.
