Silo renewed for seasons 3 and 4 at Apple TV+, which will finish the show
As a seasoned movie buff with over three decades of viewing under my belt, I can confidently say that the renewal of Apple TV+’s hit series Silo for two more seasons is nothing short of a delightful development. Having had the pleasure of immersing myself in numerous dystopian narratives throughout the years, I’ve come to appreciate the value of a well-executed, complete story arc that does justice to its source material.
Today is a splendid day for Silo fans! Exciting news has just been announced: Apple TV+ has renewed the popular science fiction series, “Silo”, for another two seasons! The narrative will progress in season 3 and conclude with a fourth and final season, wrapping up the tale of Juliette Nichols (played by Rebecca Ferguson) and her fellow inhabitants within the bunker. According to Apple’s press release, “The fourth season of Silo will mark the series’ climactic, thrilling finale, telling the complete story of Hugh Howey’s bestselling trilogy of dystopian novels.
From my perspective, this situation seems ideal for the series “Silo”. The initial two seasons largely follow the adaptation of Hugh Howey’s first book in the Silo trilogy, titled “Wool”. Subsequently, there are two more books: “Shift” and “Dust”. “Shift” predominantly delves into the backstory about how the Silos were established, while “Dust” concludes the main narrative for the inhabitants of Silo 18. Merging these narratives into two additional seasons appears to be a brilliant decision for the show, and it’s encouraging to witness such a clear plan guiding one of the most intriguing sci-fi shows on television currently.
Graham Yost, the showrunner and executive producer, expressed delight about adapting Hugh’s grand novels in collaboration with Apple. He looks forward to unfolding the entire tale across four seasons. As we approach the last two installments of ‘Silo’, he is eager to provide viewers a deeply satisfying resolution to the numerous enigmas and unresolved questions hidden within the silos’ confines.
Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+’s programming head, expressed that since its debut, the captivating, creative, and emotional series “Silo” has kept us enthralled and it’s been a joy to see worldwide viewers fall in love with Graham Yost’s crafted universe. As we anticipate seasons three and four, which will wrap up Juliette Nichols’ tale and complete Hugh Howey’s epic trilogy of novels, we eagerly look forward to sharing more of the show’s compelling performances spearheaded by the remarkable Rebecca Ferguson, as well as the unforeseen plot developments, turns, and surprises that this deeply human story is renowned for.
Rebecca Ferguson, who both stars in and executive produces the series, has cherished every moment of bringing Juliette to life on screen. She is incredibly proud of what they’ve all achieved with Silo since its debut. Having always been deeply invested in sharing the entire story from Hugh Howey’s books, she is overjoyed that the show has been warmly received by global audiences. With Apple as our partners, Graham, and the rest of the talented cast and crew, I can hardly wait to delve into the final two seasons, which promise to offer a thought-provoking conclusion to this dystopian narrative.
The press release further offers a short sneak peek into the sixth installment of “Silo” season 2, premiering on Apple TV+ this Friday: “This week’s episode finds Bernard executing a scheme to expose Knox, Shirley, and Walker. Billings makes a strong stance. Solo rescues Juliette and demands something in return.
I would bet money Silo was secretly renewed over a month ago
This is truly thrilling news for fans of the series, Silo, given the current era of television where shows are frequently cut short. It’s heartening to know that the series will have the opportunity to conclude its narrative and deliver justice to the cherished novels by Hugh Howey. Let’s take a moment to appreciate this development.
It’s worth mentioning something I find amusing: I strongly believe that Apple may have already renewed “Silo” over a month ago, and has been tactfully waiting for the perfect moment to share this news with us. There are several reasons that lead me to this assumption. Firstly, this press release kicks off with, “Following the highly praised second season debut of ‘Silo,’ Apple TV+ today announced that the globally acclaimed, world-building drama has been renewed through season four.” Given that Season 2 aired in mid-November, it’s either the wording is misleading or it was originally prepared when Episode 201 was first released. The press release also contains an “unlisted” link to a trailer…which has been available on YouTube for two months. There are some new elements in the press release, like the hint about Episode 206, but there are also enough clues scattered throughout that I think it’s unlikely this renewal announcement will come as a surprise to fans of the show.
Another reason for this is actress Rebecca Ferguson, who had been contemplating Silo seasons 3 and 4 even before the second season had its premiere. In early November, she told TheWrap, “I think the entire story from the three books should be spread across four seasons.” She added, “If people enjoy the show, our goal is to deliver it as best we can and hope that they want more.
Ferguson’s response about the potential of a third season seems rather cryptic: “We frequently talk about [the possibility]. It could [happen], but I can’t confirm that. Maybe it won’t, or perhaps we’ve wrapped it up. Or maybe nothing is going on at all. To be honest, I could just be telling fibs.
Regardless of whether she told the truth or not, if Apple renewed “Silo” two months ago or just yesterday, what matters is that it’s fantastic news for fans of this dystopian series. I can’t wait to tune in!
Currently, the second season of “Silo” is still going strong on Apple TV+. This season has proven to be top-notch television, and we can’t get enough of it. Fresh episodes air every Friday on Apple TV+; if you’re loving the show, don’t forget to stop by Winter Is Coming each week for our weekly reviews!
