I’m so excited for the next series of Silent Witness! Emilia Fox just let slip that things are going to get really tough for Nikki and Jack – you know, Dr. Alexander and her husband, played by David Caves. Apparently, they’re both going to face some serious difficulties that will really test their relationship. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out!
The latest season of Silent Witness began last night, with Nikki and Jack investigating a high-profile murder in Birmingham. The team has moved from London and is now working out of a state-of-the-art facility called The Sir William Bowman Centre of Excellence.

Throughout the ten episodes, Nikki and Jack will keep investigating Birmingham’s most disturbing crime scenes. However, Jack’s history will eventually cause problems for him, and Nikki finds herself caught up in the fallout. Emilia hints that Jack is responsible for his own predicament.

The actress recently told Digital Spy that the current situation is entirely his fault. She explained that Jack and Nikki rely on each other for support, which unfortunately also makes them very susceptible to any trouble that befalls one of them.
Throughout this season, Jack goes through something challenging that impacts both him and his partner, and it really highlights how much they care for each other by revealing their emotional openness.

Since its debut in 1996, Silent Witness has become well-known for its detailed look at forensic science. However, Emilia, who has played the character Nikki since 2004, believes the latest series tackles completely new and unexplored topics.
As a gamer, I’ve seen a lot of stories, but this season’s two-parter is taking things in completely new directions. I especially appreciate the writing – Tim Prager, who’s back with Silent Witness, really tackled some tough subjects, like disability and abuse in care homes. Honestly, researching this story was eye-opening for me – I learned so much I didn’t know before, and it sounds like everyone involved had to really think things through to get it right.
This field of science is truly amazing and based in reality, which makes it incredibly interesting. It’s fascinating how often you start noticing it in the news when you’re aware of it. Tim consistently focuses on current and relevant topics.
Emilia has been with the show for over 20 years, and her dedication to understanding her character’s profession is a key reason she keeps coming back, even though the scripts get increasingly difficult.
“That’s one of my favorite parts of being on this show,” Emilia said. “I really enjoy learning all the new medical details. But it seems like the writers and the pathologists we consult with are challenging me more and more with increasingly complex lines!”
Silent Witness airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
