Silent Witness season 28’s new cast includes Death in Paradise and Call the Midwife actors
As a devoted viewer, I can’t help but feel the heart-pounding suspense in the recent double episode of “Silent Witness.” My favorite characters, Nikki (played by Emilia Fox) and Jack (portrayed by David Caves), are thrown into a chilling case that sends shivers down my spine.
Returning home, the investigative team was summoned to examine the case of an estate agent found brutally murdered. The manner of his death mirrors a series of other fatalities with identical circumstances.
Fresh actors are being brought on board to flesh out the details of this gruesome case, with some familiar faces like those from “Death in Paradise,” “Call the Midwife,” and “Gangs of London.” These newcomers will work alongside recently introduced cast members Maggie Steed and Francesca Mills, who were unveiled last week as Harriet Maven, the new head of the Lyell Centre, and crime analyst Kit Brooks. As the narrative progresses, even more notable figures are expected to be involved.
Here’s who is in the latest episode of Silent Witness.
Zoe Telford as Supt Jane De Freitas
Actress Zoe Telford joins the cast as Jane De Freitas, who is exceptionally skilled at profiling. Given the current situation, her talent proves very beneficial. Most recently, Telford appeared in the drama “Showtrial” as Helen McGuire and portrayed Dr Kitty Gray in “The Lazarus Project.
Tim Berrington as Philip Chalmers
Actor Tim Berrington, known for his performances in shows like “Gangs of London,” “The Diplomat,” “Succession,” and “This is England,” has been cast as Philip Chalmers. In “The Diplomat,” he portrayed Tyler, while in “Succession” he played the character Dennis. In “This is England,” he appeared as John Newton.
Jenny Rainsford as Alice Chalmers
In the latest installment of “Silent Witness,” Alice Chalmers, portrayed by Jenny Rainsford, experiences a particularly challenging situation. Rainsford is well-known for her humorous portrayal of Boo in Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s series “Fleabag.” Additionally, some dedicated drama enthusiasts might recall Rainsford from her single episode appearance in “Call the Midwife,” where she played the character Dena Bowland, a struggling single mother.
Billy Harris as DC Nick Whelan
Billy Harris portrays the emerging detective constable Nick Whelan, who is eager to establish his abilities in a series not called “Silent Witness.” Outside of this show, Harris has also appeared on AppleTV’s “Ted Lasso,” where he played the role of footballer Colin Hughes.
Ellie Haddington as Meg McGrath
Following her role in “Death in Paradise”, actress Ellie Haddington has been cast in the crime drama “Silent Witness” as Meg McGrath. This character, brimming with secrets, is a perfect fit for Haddington as it allows her to capitalize on her ability to create tension through her performance.
Devoted viewers of soap operas may recall the actress for her roles in Coronation Street. Specifically, she appeared as Faye Duffield in 1984 and then again as Josie Clarke from 1995 to 1996.
Also joining episode three and four of Silent Witness are the following:
1. Ellora Torchia plays Claire Steadman, recognized for her roles in ‘Grantchester’ and ‘House of the Dragon’.
2. Sarah Kameela Impey and Tina Steadman are both known for their work on ‘Vera’.
3. Lorcan Cranitch takes on the role of Colin McGrath, famous for his appearances in ‘Bad Sisters’ and ‘The Crown’.
4. Zaqi Ismail is recognized as Harry Singh from ‘We Are Lady Parts’.
Silent Witness season 28 airs weekly on BBC Mondays and Tuesdays at 9pm
